Sicily

Agrigento is a province situated on the Island of Sicily, one of the autonomous island regions of Italy. There are 43 forming the province and among the most important cities of the region, there's Agrigento, also the province's capital, Sciacca, Canicattì, Favara, Licata, Porto Empedocle. The province is characterized by Baroque architecture, but also by modern Italian beaches, magnificent small islands and one of the world’s most beautiful and transparent coasts. The Islands of Lampedusa, Lampione and Linosa are the most visited by tourists. Also, one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites is situated here, the Valley of the Temples being a fascinating place for anyone who loves nature.

The Province of Caltanissetta is a province in the southern part of Sicily. It is made of 22 total comuni and its capital city is Caltanissetta. The province is characterized by splendid landscapes, many castles, mines and archaeological sites being spread all over the territory. Olive groves, vineyards and citrus orchards are also part of Caltanisetta's charm. The province is easily compared to an open air museum, the Mussomeli castle with the the “Hall of the Three Sisters”, the fortified walls at Capo Soprano or Vassallaggi, once the site of a necropolis, make Caltanisetta a very interesting place to visit.

The province of Catania is situated on the Island of Sicily and it is made out of 58 total comuni. Here lies the Etna Volcano, but the territory is also characterized by the coastline, by beautiful surroundings and Italian history. Orange and lemon groves, vineyards and chestnut trees are found all over Catania, but the tourists are mostly attracted by the Duomo, the Church of Badìa di Sant'Agata, the Collegiata or Regia Chapel, the unfinished Benedictine Monastery of San Nicolò and many other Italian landmarks.

The province of Enna is situated in the region of Sicily and it is formed by 20 comunes. Located in the heart of Sicily, Enna is characterized by woods, beech trees and magnificent landscapes. Enna is also known as "the province of lakes”, being the only province in Sicily without a coastline. Popular tourist sites include Villa Romana del Casale, in Piazza Armerina, the ancient town of Morgantina, Castello di Lombardia, biggest castle in Sicily, the Duomo of Enna, built in the 13th century, Regalbuto, one of Europe's biggest theme parks and much more.

The province os Messina, part of the island of Sicily, is formed out of 108 total comuni, including the Aeolian Islands, part of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. The territory is characterized by a mountainous relief, but plains and coastline are part of Messina as well. The province's main mountain ridges, the Peloritani and the Nebrodi, are included in a Regional Natural Reserve. Many Italian landmarks are found here, such as the Regional Museum, the Cathedral with the statue of St. John the Baptist, the 16th-Century Orione Fountain and much, much more.

The Province of Palermo is part of the island of Sicily and it is formed out of 82 comuni. The territory is characterized by the magnificent coastline, Palermo being a very famous destination among tourists. The most frequented beach is Mondello, the most visited town is Cefalu and the best place for scuba diving is the ancient fishing village of Sferracavallo. For an unforgettable landscape, tourists often visit the Madonie Regional Park, but there are more sites to be seen here. The Solunto ruins, the archaeological area of Monte Jato, the many historical villas are all part of Palermo's charm.

The Province of Ragusa is situated on the island of Sicily and it is made out of only 12 comuni. The territory is characterized by the 85 kilometers long coastline, many fishing villages, the Hyblaean Mountains, rivers and one lake, Lago di Santa Rosalia. Towers, domes and cupolas dominate the area as well, making it a beautiful province to visit. There are many sights to be visited in Ragusa, including baroque monuments, such as cathedrals and duomos, archaeological sites, such as the Greek city of Kamarina, castles and much more.

The Province of Syracuse is a province in the island region of Sicily. Its capital is the city of Syracuse and the province is made out of 21 comuni. The ancient city of Syracuse is divided into quarters, Neapolis, Acradina, Ortygia, Tyche, and Epipoli. Each of them is home to various monuments, magnificent landscapes, Italian history and more. For instance, the Pantalica necropolis is a very important archaeological site. Noto and Palazzolo Acreide are on the UNESCO World Heritage Site's list. So many great sights wait to be discovered all year long, by thousands of tourists who choose Siracusa as their destination.

The province of Trapani is part of the island of Sicily, it s made out of 24 comuni and its capital city is Trapani. The province is very famous for its wine production, Trapani alone is producing more wine than the entire nation of Chile and Austria, for instance. Cities and places of interest in Trapani include Segesta, Gibellina, Castelvetrano, Alcamo, Marsala, Castellammare del Golfo, and more. Many archaeological remains and protected areas are to be found here, but the many beaches along the coastline are what really attract many tourists every year.
