Piedmont
The Piedmont region, situated in North-Western Italy, bordering both France and Switzerland, is characterized by mountains, hence the name "piedmont" which means "foot of the mountains". The region is divided into 8 provinces: Alessandria, Asti, Biella, Cuneo, Novara, Turin, Verbano-Cusio-Ossola and Vercelli and is home to the highest mountain peaks and largest glaciers in Italy. Turin, the region's capital city, houses one of the largest museums in the world, the Egyptian Museum. Piedmont is also the region where tourists come to visit the Sacred Mountains, historical towns, Italian sanctuaries, castles but also Nature Reserves, ski resorts and lakes.
Alessandria
The Province of Alessandria is a province in the Piedmont region, of Italy. It is made out of 190 comuni and it has a population of about 430,000 inhabitants. The province exists since 1859 and it is famous for the art and history, but also for the very beautiful landscapes. Some UNESCO World Heritage Sites are found here, including The Sacred Mountain of Crea, one of the nine Sacri Monti of Piedmont and Lombardy. Modern structures attract routists as well, such as the Acqui Terme spa or the museum dedicated to cycling, the Campionissimi of Novi Ligure Museum.

Asti
The Province of Asti is a province in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, made out of 118 comuni. Asti is among the few institutions awarded the Gold Medal for Military Valor for the great help it offered in the Second World War. The territory is mostly characterized by hills and valleys, and it is traversed by the Tanaro River. The province of Asti is among Italy's great wine producers and it is one of the provinces with many beautiful nature parks: the Rocchetta Tanaro Natural Park, the Special Natural Reserve of the Andona, Botto and Grande Valleys and more.

Biella
The Province of Biella is situated in the province of Piedmont and it exists since 1992. A total of 82 comuni is forming the province and the territory is home for one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites, the Sacred Mountain of Oropa, one of Europes' most important religious sites. Valleys, lakes and nature parks characterize this province, but many pittoresque villages make it a pretty site as well. Among the most important settlements, we find Magnano and Candelo, Italian villages enclosed by fortified walls, and Rosazza, the village of stone-cutters, with its traditional stone dwellings.

Cuneo
The province of Cuneo is a province situated in the region of Piedmont, in Northern Italy. It borders France to the west and it is known as the Provincia Granda (Enghish: the big province) because it it the third largest province of Italy, with 250 comuni forming it. The territory is mostly characterized by mountains and hills, the hills of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato being the most important ones. High altitude lakes are found here, the Maritime Alps Natural Park housing some of them. Important routes of pilgrimage are found here as well, the Way of San Giacomo and Via Francigena dating back to medieval times.

Novara
The province of Novara is a very beautiful province, situated in the Piedmont region in Northern Italy. There are 88 comuni forming the province and the capital city is Novara. The province is famous for being home to the Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) wine of Colline Novaresi. Some grand lakes are found here as well, Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore being the most important ones. Tourists resorts are filled with visitors all year round, Arona and Castelletto-above-Ticino being the most famous.

Turin
The Province of Turin is a province in the Piedmont region of Italy. There are 315 comuni forming the province, the most of any province in Italy. Various landscapes characterize this province, with many nature reserves, such as Sacro Monte Natural Reserve and Gran Paradiso National Park. Among the UNESCO's World Heritage Sites of Turin,The Residences of the Royal House of Savoy and the neighborhood are on the list. The Shroud of Turin is also found in this province. The royal chapel of the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist is among Italy's most visited sites, because this is the place where the famous Shroud of Turin is being kept.

Verbano-Cusio-Ossola
The province of Verbano Cusio Ossola is the northernmost province in the Piedmont region and also in Italy. The province is made out of 77 comuni and has Verbania as its city capital. Since 2003, the Sacred Mountain of Domodossola and the Sacred Mountain of Ghiffa are part of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. Other charming places in the Verbano Cusio Ossola province include Lake Mergozzo, the Cannobio, Cannero Riviera and Verbania resorts, the Borromean Islands located in the middle of Lake Maggiore and so much more.

Vercelli
The province of Vercelli is a province in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. There are 86 comuni forming the province, and the territory is included on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, since the Sacred Mountain of Varallo was inserted back in 2003. Other important sights include the Basilica of Sant'Andrea in Vercelli, the Duomo with the medieval bell tower, the Borgogna Museum and more. Nature landscapes offer the province a special charm as well, the Varesina Valley, the Gattinara Hills, historical villages and many more sights are worth visiting here, in the province of Vercelli.
