I read somewhere that Bellagio is the most beautiful city in Italy, is it true?
It's in the province of Como and it's at the intersection of the Y of the lake Como, which does make it a special location, being surrounded by waters and all.

Have you been there? How beautiful is it? :)

There are so many beautiful cities in Italy, all of them with their own specific charm, that it is impossible to deem one which is more beautiful than the others. Can you say that Bellagio is more beautiful than Monterosso?

That being said, it is indeed a fantastic place. There are the mountains as a backdrop, the water surrounding the shore and city itself is a small labyrint ontop of a hill. The small streets are very pittoresque, and lined with small shops all the way through. It is not difficult to understand why so many celebrities own a house around this area.

Since it is very well-liked by tourists - the prices are quite steep. If visiting on a budget, it might be a good idea to bring some foccacia with you for the road :)

Well, I have never been to Bellagio but looking at a photo, it does seem to be one very scenic place.

Italy has many scenic towns / villiages and Bellagio is most certainly one of them.

This is the scenery which you see if you are arriving with a ferry - however it doesn't capture the views from Bellagio or the beautiful city. What you see from the shore is the numerous hotels on the shore, whilst the city itself is hidden beyond on the hill!

We almost missed it, until we saw some signs pointing to the 'Centro' :)

As others have said, there's so many different cities, towns and villages in Italy, all with their own individual and unique charm that it hard to pick the most beautiful I think.

In a way it a bit like picking the winner of miss world, they're all stunning, so it just boils down to individual preference haha!

I think that's highly objective, lol. I don't even think I can pick " a most beautiful" for each of the twenty regions of Italy. Maybe I'm still very infatuated, I don't know. But I feel that certain areas of Sardinia, for example, against the ocean are to-die-for beautiful. This is a very different kind of beauty and charm from Lombardia and the Italian Alps. Who's the say that one is more beautiful than the other?

I will say that Lombardia, Bellagio, Como region really is the first area I want to go in terms of visiting. When I was very young, I found the Alps so peaceful. I wish I'd been more knowledgeable about the world to know that those Alps were located in Italy! So I want to fulfill a lifelong dream to spend a lot of time in this region. Between the clean air, lakes, and beauty, this is bound to be amazing.

I haven't yet been to that region of Italy, but wow - if it's that beautiful in the pictures I just looked up online, then I have no doubt that it's probably even more gorgeous in person. It's one of those things though - Italy is so blessed with beauty that it would be hard to narrow it down to one place being "the most beautiful" of them all. Plus, everyone is probably going to say something different, since beauty encompasses so many things to each individual. Someone might regard a place as being beautiful because of the experiences they've had there, rather than the surroundings, so to speak!

I think there are a number of beautiful places in Italy, and who is to say what is the most beautiful? It is really up to the individual to make that determination. I think there are several places in Italy that could hold title to the most beautiful city. I think there are enough in Italy to go around personally.
