This is a first, as far as Unesco World Heritage sites go :)
Just a few days ago, a grape cultivation technique was added to the list of the UNESCO World Heritage list.

It seems pretty strange, but it's history being made.
The Sicilians on the island of Pantelleria use a special technique to grow grapes, it's called " alberello" and it is used to grow the Zibibbo grapes, or Alexandrian Muscat grapes, considered to be among the oldest genetically unmodified vines that still exist. The best wines in Sicily are made using these Zibibbo grapes, I've never heard of them before but wine lovers may have :)

This is the news in Italian, that contains more details, and this is the news in English, for whoever doesn't understand Italian :P
