Which Pizza do you prefer?

My absolute favorite pizza is with fresh arugula and cherry tomatoes. When I can have this, I never eat anything else.

Wow, all this pizza talk is making my mouth water! Well, I love my pizza smothered with cheese, mushrooms, pineapples, and all sorts of other things. I'm not a fan of ham and pepperoni though, so that's crossed out of my list. Sometimes I prefer thin crust, but most of the time I prefer the dough filled with more cheese or tomato sauce.

I'm a vegetarian but even before that it has always been pizza funghi :) and the best one I have ever tried is in Limone. Wonderful food and wonderful setting.

I love mozzarella, sausage, mushrooms, spinach and parm cheese! Oh yum, yum! Might just have to make some pizzas this weekend!

I honestly don't think I prefer anything. Just, don't put anchovies on it and it's excellent for me, those things suck. They even have a stupid name.

But really, anything's fine with me. I love the good old simple classic "Margherita", because its amazing due to its relative simplicity. I also like some pineapple topping, but haters gonna hate, heheh. But yeah, anything's great as long as it doesn't have nasty anchovies on it.

Man, now I'm super hungry thinking about some delicious pizza.

I went out for pizza with my mum on Saturday night at an Italian-style pizzeria (one which has always been one of my favourites) and I decided to be adventurous and try a new pizza topping - spinach, chicken and mushroom. It was delicious! Shame I couldn't manage to finish it though. :( Will just need to get a smaller one next time!

I will pretty much eat pizza with anything on it except mushrooms. I generally get any and all kinds of meat that I can get on it. Sausage, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, chicken, bacon and plenty of Parmesan cheese make the perfect pizza in my opinion.

I'm not a big fan of putting fruits on pizza, but any kind of vegetables make it good occasionally. I just had a fire-baked pizza from a new restaurant a couple weeks ago and had every kind of meat they had to offer and finished the whole thing!

Sounds good Cefmac!! I hope you took the leftovers home? :)

I did, but I could only manage one more slice, so I threw the rest away! I almost bartered it away for a pair of earrings, as a jewellry stall holder was eying it up, but didn't think he would take my offer seriously. :p

Cefmac:Haha! That is pretty funny! I can't say I've ever thought about trading my leftovers for something!!

I'll have to remember that for next time we go out to eat and I can't finish everything!! ;-)

Chase88: I like pineapple on pizza but I think I am the only one in the family that does so I don't get to have it very often! I used to get it with Canadian bacon! Found out after years of getting it I was the only one that would eat it! Lol!

I have seen quite a few non Italian residents in this thread mention Canadian bacon. What is so special about this bacon?

I am originally from the UK, and for us, Danish bacon is the best. I am wondering if Canadian bacon follows the same trend in the US?

I think it is a love/hate for people. It is sort of like a small piece of ham, I guess. It sort of tastes like ham and looks nothing like bacon! And, I would have to add that it tastes nothing like bacon either! ;) It gets kind of crispy on the edges when it bakes - that might be why there is the name bacon attached to it.

What is Danish bacon? I've never heard of it! But I am intrigued! It sure is fun learning about other cultures and the food differences.

Canadian bacon is one of those things that I can't eat on a pizza by itself. I don't mind it if there are other meats on the pizza along with it, but it's just a little plain by itself. It definitely doesn't have a bacon flavor in my opinion either.

mommy42: You should take advantage of no one else in your family liking pineapple. See if you can order a pizza with one half for you and one half with the stuff they like. That way you are guaranteed you will get at least half a pizza and maybe even enough for leftovers too! My parents always used to do that to us...they would order one pizza how they liked it and one pizza for the three kids. The kids, of course, finished the pizza and sometimes even fought over it, but my parents had pizza for at least a couple of days after that!

I go regularly to an Italian restaurant in Brussels that serves a "Pizza Mexicaine". It's almost like a Margarita but the twist is that there is a raw egg dumped in the middle.

I eat around the edges and let the pizza slightly "cook" the egg and then dip the crusts into the soggy egg.

It might be an acquired taste...but mix in some pepper and chilli oil (and some beer) and it all goes down nicely..

I like pizza with a white sauce, chicken and lots of cheese. Or, so-called Hawaiian pizza. Love!

Kgan - that is funny that you mentioned pizza with white sauce! For some reason, the other day, my daughter decided she had to have cheese pizza with white sauce! Maybe she was craving extra cheesiness! She wasn't "bold" enough to have other toppings on it though. She is pretty much a cheese only topping-er!

I don't like the white sauce on my pizza because it is just too creamy and rich! My daughter decided after she had a couple of slices that was enough and she didn't even want the leftovers!

Flyer28 - to me hawaiian is like you said pineapple and Canadian bacon (or ham as you called it).

I usually go for a traditional margarita pizza. I’m not a huge topping person. I also feel like you can judge a pizzeria by their traditional slice. Every once in a while I’ll go for a grandma slice too.

Honestly I would say it's pretty dependent on my mood! I love a good Margherita pizza - fresh basil, tomato and mozzarella just can't be beat. But sometimes I'm in the mood for spicy foods and then my go to is something with hot salami or pepperoni on it! And olives when I'm craving salty foods!

Pizza is now a great party appetizer and so I like a variety of toppings as many places are more adventurous. The best is garlic porcini, or truffles with some red onions. Roasted eggplant is a good pizza, although it can be heavy, and spinach is good to add some veggies to a pizza.

I think pizzas have become healthier; away from the traditional heavy bases, as places do skinny pizzas with a thinner base, and even wholemeal bases. They are better for you, but don't taste quite the same.
