Expensive Life In Italy

I wonder why that happen. I am guessing that the farther away from the northern countries, the cheaper the cost of life? Funny enough it's mentioned that the southern countries act like you mention @Terryy, but this happening within the same country is something new for me. As I love the good weather, I am finding this to be good news though, as I can go south and find cheaper things. :)
 
This is certainly how I felt living there last fall. Seeing my grandmother was the plus. I stayed with her, and that helped to ease the tension and pay the bills....
 
When we have the chance to stay with family our friends our costs are really cut big time, so we can afford other luxuries like certain events or eating out, or even saving. It's all a matter of taking advantage of the opportunities life presents us.

That's correct the per head cost when living with a family is reduced on the long run, you may have to buy some stuffs in bulk and may enjoy some discount for bulk purchases. The expenses may appear more if it's one person living alone.
 
One person living alone can really vary when you are talking about costs, but it makes me interested to see a little more of the comparisons between the countries. I am betting that Italy is a little less single friendly.

Yeah, it's a "sacrifice" we make because we really don't have an option. I wouldn't mind sharing place or living in a room for some months if that allowed me to explore a country like Italy, it would be some experience! :)
 
I find out that accommodation and transportation are the two main basic needs that would easily make a place expensive. Prices of food especially local meals are moderate or a lot cheaper compared to housing. The way around this would be living in shared apartment and use of personal or own car.
 
Accommodation has to be the most expensive one, so if we can cut on those we will have a significant free budget. As for transportation I really can't say if it will be more expensive that food, I think eating will cost us a lot more than transports.

Eating is supposed to cost more than the transportation. The thing is in some locations you can hardly get buses or shared transportation. Every going out you make it's a drop and you can imagine what that means. You going to be charged what others would have paid if it was a shared transport.
 
Everything is only getting more expensive as you go along. It is a very expensive world, after all. I remember when even a bowl of pasta was a lot cheaper there.

Yeah, that happens everywhere, but those are the places that are more worth visiting as they aren't touristic destinations per se. Sometimes I love being in a crowded place and see what all the other tourists see, but other times it's worth it to invest, rent a car and explore other less well-known areas.

Hоwеvеr, mоst pеоplе whо gеt this mоnеy еithеr shаrе flаts оr livе with thеir fаmiliеs (this bеing vаlid fоr Itаliаns оr pеоplе whо саmе tо Itаly duе tо thеir pаrtnеrs living in Itаly sо thеy саn gеt by а littlе еаsiеr оn thаt) whilе fоr аn аmеriсаn соming tо Itаly with lеt’s sаy NоTHING in hаnd fоr thе first thrее оr fоur mоnths, it might bе diffiсult.
 
If yоu wаnt tо rеnt а rооm соnsidеr thаt in thе nоrth yоu wоuld pаy nоt lеss thаn 300 еurоs (just fоr thе rооm) plus yоu аrе еxpесtеd tо pаy thе оthеr соnsumptiоn еxpеnsеs fоr thе соndоminium ( lе utеnzе) this аmоunt wоuld gо up tо 370–400 аt lеаst dеpеnding оn vаriоus fасtоrs likе thе lосаtiоn аnd thе fасilitiеs оf thе аpаrtmеnt оr thе соmplеx/hоusе whаtеvеr thаt is :)
In thе sоuth thе еxpеnsеs аrе slightly lеss аnd yоu соuld livе bеttеr yеs, but still yоu wоuld nееd thаt initiаl mоnеy аfоrеmеntiоnеd.
