What Italian Singers Do You Enjoy ?

I'm going to be checking out the recommendations from here. I already discovered some singers like Andrea Bocelli and Luciano Pavarotti, who are both famous worldwide. I quite agree that listening to songs, popular songs, and paying attention to their lyrics is good to learn the language. Especially if it has got catchy tunes. :)

Definitely. I always hum the lyrics of songs. And when I discover a new one, I keep listening to it until I almost know the lyrics by heart. Media Player is a saviour - if not for the repeat... I don't even notice that several hours had passed while listening to a certain song. Curious, isn't it?
Pavarotti is also an excellent choice. You'll see, though - you either like him or you don't. ;) He's unique.

My favorite Italian singer is no doubt Natalie Imbrugia, I love her voice, her songs and she is very pretty as well, she has it all to go international big time, so I am in a way surprise she isn't even more famous all around the world. Anyone know the song Kiss me?

I grew up with some of the classic Italian singers--Adriano Celentano, Fabrizio d'Andre, Vasco Rossi, and Pierangelo Bertoli. As someone mentioned above, Fabrizio d'Andre is an incredible storyteller. We like to call him the Bob Dylan of Italia :D Of his songs, I would reccommend La Guerra di Piero (Piero's War), Fila la Lana (Spin the Wool), La Canzone Dell'Amore Perduto (The Song of Lost Love), La Canzone di Marinella (Marinella's song)...all so beautiful. He was a badass as well, once even sympathizing with his kidnappers because he felt they had no other prospects in life and essentially were a 'product of the system'.
Adriano Celentano is a really catchy, old-school choice. His music is so dramatic! I love L'emozione Non Ha Voce (the emotion has no voice), Hai Bucato La Mia Vita (you left a hole in my life), and Per Averti (to have you).
I'm a fan of the emotion and drama, they're perfect songs to sing along with, full volume, alone in the car ;)

I have always been fond of Gianna Nannini. Back in the 80ies when I was a kid, she was extremely popular in my country. I liked her music then, but as an adult I came to appreciate her beautiful voice and music even more. One of my favorite songs is "Bello e Impopssibilie".
I also like Eros Ramazzotti. I read that he sold over 55 Million records so far. What a grand achievement.

It's been a while since I've heard of Gianna Nannini amethyst, wasn't she a sister of the F1 driver also called Nannini that had a nasty accident? Either cases, she has a stunning voice, sadly she disappeared from the map, but we can also recall her old songs. Yep, and here's she with the brother.

I am not necessarily an avid Italian singer fan. I did see a performance with Pavarotti. I really enjoyed watching him perform. If I did like anyone, it would be Pavarotti. I know he is no longer with us but I would pay to actually see him do a live performance.

Whenever anyone speaks about an Italian singer Pavarotti comes to the mind and also that trio he made that was world famous, but Italy is much more than Pavarotti, the issue is that the Italian singers usually don't get famous in the US I think.

Never heard of Allesandro Safina, his her contemporary? I just googled is name and discovered that he's a relatively young man (53 years old), but I have never heard him sing.

I can't believe at first that I missed some of the popular singers who are Italian. Like Natalie Imbruglia. I've been listening to some of her songs and her name was often discussed in the music section of news reporting. But I didn't immediately think of her at the mention of Italian singer. Some of the other Italian singers being mentioned in this thread are familiar names.

That's right, Natalie Imbruglia it's one of the biggest names of contemporary Italian music, but it's been a while since she made a big hit. I guess that inspiration doesn't come easy, but either cases her name will remain for history.

Thank you for this lovely picture, Peninha. Just looking at Gianna Nannini's beautiful smile makes me happy. :) I don't really know much about her brother. What happened to him? Did he survive the accident?

I also saw Luciano Pavarotti in a live performance and was moved to tears. What a divine voice lived in that marvelous man! He is immortal! I like to listen to him on my old record player, as loud as possible.
Whenever I feel down or depressed, I listen to his songs and within a short time I feel motivated again, and even transformed.

No problem. :) He was a formula 1 driver, but he had an helicopter accident if I am mistaken and lost one arm. Amazingly they manage to make a prosthetic one and he was able to go back to the sport.

I like Jimmy Fontana. I don't know him that well, but I love his song Il Mondo, and I wish I got to know him more. The thing is, I am sort of scared of listening to more, and falling in love with his music, because he died last year. Which means I'll just be sad that he is dead if I end up liking him too much...I know it sounds weird but I don't know if anyone can related?
Anyway, I really like that song, and it feels like such a perfect wedding song to me. That was how it was used in About Time and it was just PERFECT.

Some people are so dedicated and determined that nothing and nobody will stand in their way. I have a friend who lost a leg in a motorbike accident, and on top of that he suffered from a brain injury as well that impacted his speech. After some extensive rehabilitation for 5 months, in which he had to re-learn how to talk and think in an ordered way, the first thing he wanted to do was to sit on his bike again. Understandably, his girlfriend wouldn't have it. So, these days he is riding a trike with his prosthetic leg, talking really slow, and driving even slower. :)

Yes, nothing like being scared to change our ways, but what I find ironic in Nanini's case was that he was a F1 driver taking a lot of risks of course and he ended up having an accident while on a copter.

I like Italian Opera it is truly beautiful. One of my favorites is Sarah Brightman as well. I love Time to Say Goodbye. It flows beautifully and I even had it in my wedding.
