Who doesn't love a good pizza? Unfortunately most people have only tasted pizza's made by big commercial chain restaurants such as Pizza Hut and Dominos, and never tried real Italian pizza. Nonetheless, these pizzas can still be very tasty. From the classic Hawaiian pizza to more unorthodox combinations, what is your favorite pizza that you have tasted?

I like a really good three mushroom pizza, usually with porcini, ceps and truffles if I am lucky. Otherwise I like onions on mine and spinach and sweetcorn. A Fiorentina pizza is good (with an egg in the middle) but you don't find them everywhere.

Tomato, mozzerella, basil, prosciutto. No more necessary...although a good pizza restaurant in my home city does a great Pescatore pizza with anchovies, sardines and tuna

I seem to like it more simple. My favourite is Margharita - nothing but ketchup and cheese, and of course, a lot of spices which I add myself. I have tried Havana as well and I'd liked it (I absolutely adore pineapple and it seems that pineapple goes well with bacon). I am also not opposed to Pizza Calcone... I did find it surprisingly delicious. Perhaps because the flavours were all savoured...

There are 2 pizzerias right outside my building, and one of them happens to be the best one in town. How lucky am I ?! :D
Anyway, when I order a pizza, it's usually from these 2 pizzerias and I always (and I mean.. always!) get the funghi topping. Mushrooms are one of my favorite foods, and to be honest, pizza with funghi topping is actually one of the cheapest ones, right after the margherita.

When I cook pizza myself, at home, I have a totally different approach.
I prepare the dough myself, I then add tomato sauce, previously mixed with olive oil, some salt and oregano, then I add some prosciutto cotto or some pancetta affumicata (that is, ham or bacon), grate cheese on top (I like the Asiago cheese on my pizza. I actually don't use mozzarella :) ) and add some green olives.

The result is incredibly yummy! All my friends who had the honor of tasting my pizza said so! :P

I love some good goat cheese on my Pizza, I also like pesto. For a light Pizza I like Margherita Pizza. I know Italian Pizza is truly unique, but has anyone ever had a Chicago Deep Dish, it is rich and awesome. I'm wondering if they make anything like that in Italy or if it even originates from there. I really don't know the history behind the Chicago Deep Dish, but I know it's basically made by shops run by Italians, so it must have something to do with Italy, besides being a pizza.

Tuna pizza is an italian thing and is made with oil-packed tuna.
Searching the italian name " pizza col tonno " gives many results:

Deep dish pizza does not exist in Italy, sometimes i think a chicagoan pizzaiolo might do some serious business here.
Deep dish might be derivated from another kind of pie called " Pizza Rustica "

My favorite would be tuna and corn pizza. I also like the plain cheese pizza, or cheese and tomato pizza. When I was very young I used to get the small pan-sized pizza with mushrooms, cheese and tomato every time I get pizza. Now there's so many additions that makes the pizza more colorful, like adding pineapple slices to the pizza. It does make the dish look more merry, but the taste can be a bit too much.

This thread has made me very hungry. All of these pizza toppings sound delicious, and it would be amazing to try them all. Personally, I like additional toppings other than just cheese, although who could argue with a good Margherita. I'm going to have to note some of these down and try them at the next opportunity! What are everyone's opinions surrounding dessert pizzas? Some look really good and creative.

I had started to make a post about my favorite toppings (bell peppers, mushroom, sausages, different cheeses, yum!) but I had to erase it because I wanted to make a direct reply to this post.

Because... ketchup? What? Ketchup? Do you mean like... Tomato sauce? Or really, ketchup? My mind is reeling!

I am a vegetarian, and I love making my own type of pizza from scratch. I can't tolerate any yeast, so I usually create a natural, yeast-free base that I top with plenty of sweet ripe tomatoes, black olives, goats cheese, green pepper, capsicums, anchovies and mushrooms. I don't just love the rich taste combinations, but also the look of it, the colors, the shapes of the ingredients, and so much more. I like to eat food with my eyes first. :-)

Well, I am not sure which one is in the original recipe, but I usually put ketchup on it, however, I add a little milk to make it softer in flavour. Sometimes I also add a little tomato sauce in the mixture, but that depends on the topping - if I'm only adding cheese, I prefer ketchup only, but if I'm adding something else, I add tomato sauce. Sometimes it also depends on what kind of a flavour you want to have. Ketchup is sweeter (sometimes even stronger, depends which one you use, really) than tomato sauce, and not as ''raw''. For me, it mixes well will almost anything. I never use the ''pizza ketchup'', though. It's so odd and the flavour doesn't mix well with anything else. :D

I've never tried pizza with bell peppers :o I guess that's because I don't really like them (same is with honey). Mushrooms are alright, but if they're sliced very thin.

Anchovies? But that's fish!

Goat cheese is absolutely amazing on pizza! I also love to make pizzas myself. They taste more than the ones I get around here! And, well, no matter how tasty pizza is in Italy... I liked it stacked up like you with a tons of toppings. Eggplant and zucchini and tomatos and mushrooms and whatever veggie I can find, goes on top!

I'm still doubtful about the ketchup. But I never tried it. It's just... ketchup. I don't know. Weird.

I love authentic italian made pizza. I am so tired of the pizza from these franchise chains. I love it with the real slices of mozzerella and homemade sausage. You know a pizza is good when you can eat the whole slice including the crust. That is why I love the handmade pizza dough.

Haha, do try it. Maybe you like it, maybe you don't, but you'll never know unless you try. So, I'm assuming you use tomato sauce?

Well, yeah. Tomato sauce with tomato paste and some garlic and basil and a bit of olive oil, I think, with a pinch of salt.

Though sometimes we just buy frozen margherita pizzas and just add a ton of toppings before putting it in the oven. I could try to add a bit of ketchup on a piece of it, to see how baked ketchup comes out on a pizza.

To be fair, I tried also to put some sweet and hot asian sauce and it was sort of amazing fun that one time, so who am I to judge!

Crumbled Feta with Pulled Pork and Honey drizzled over it all is such a nice combination! Though a simple combo of fresh mozzarella and sliced tomatoes is always fantastic too!
