I have several friends all around the world and all of them seem to love Nutella, so I was wondering, what do you think about it? How do you eat it?
I like Nutella but sadly it isn't very healthy so I try to limit my intake and I seldom eat it. I've found there are several healthier chocolate/hazelnut spreads so I tend to buy them rather than Nutella.
I love its taste though, so I try not to buy it of I could end eating it all in one sitting. I usually eat nutella spread over a slice of bread, over a banana or directly out of the jar with a spoon. What about you?

I believe it is one of the best spreads around but I also think it is one of the best poisons around as well. Nevertheless, I buy Nutella whenever I get the chance. There is one brand that Serbia bought from Italy. It is a similar spread to Nutella but it is called Eurocrem. We bought it completely in the sixties. This one.
Eurocrem - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The company name is A. Gandola & C. S.p.A. and Eurocrem is better than Nutella.

I just had Nutella for breakfast! I spread it on my toasted bread and added banana on top, it is a quick and delicious breakfast for me. I mostly use it as a spread on my bread or crackers, and sometimes I use it as an ingredient or to make Nutella pancakes.

I used to carry Nutella and go treats with me to class, but I stopped because I do not think that was healthy. I eat Nutella maximum twice a week and do not allow myself to eat with a spoon which is a challenge because I have a huge Nutella jar.

Even though I've not really got a sweet tooth, I have to admit that I don't mind a bit of Nutella every now and again.

I usually have it on pancakes if we have it, but too many and it can be very sickly. And as for the calories in it well...I dread to think!

I love it. Honestly, probably too much! It's one of those things that I don't really keep in the house because I know I would just take spoonful after spoonful from the jar.

I've made lots of desserts using it though. Nutella cheesecakes are AMAZING. Seriously - if you love Nutella there are a lot of recipes online for cheesecakes and they have that beautiful chocolate-hazelnut flavour, so good!!

Notyourcommodity, that's the reason I try not to buy it too often. Now that I think about it, I've made several dessert using nutella too! Just a few days ago I made Nutella and ricotta muffins, they were to die for! I couldn't have any peace of mind until they were all gone, I just kept going back and forth from the kitchen to eat them. And you are absolutely right, cheesecakes with nutella are awesome! If you have the chance try the mascarpone cheese and Nutella cheesecake, it's delicious! I seldom make it though, it's a calorie bomb!

It is one of those aswell that I find that if there's a jar in the house, it's never in the cupboard long and as soon as it's been opened half the jar as gone, day after the empty jar is in the trash!

Moreish I think is the term that we can use to describe it, and if I bought it every week as part of the weekly shop instead of every now and again as a treat, we'd all be buying the next couple of sizes up in clothes!

Nutella is like a gift from the gods. It has a very sweet core, thick with perfect texture. I have never tasted anything close to Nutella in terms of quality and taste, and I never looked any further. It has been one of my best purchases, a very good experience when i first tasted it, and the substance touched my tongue. I truly recommend it, and I am not even joking. It truly is a masterpiece.

Nutella is not as bad or unhealthy as you may think. Granted, it is a very calorie dense food and it certainly is not part of a "healthy breakfast" but if you don't over do it is fine.

From the Italian Ferrero brand I actually love Ferrero Rocher much more than nutella, the flavour is similar yet they come in convenient single servings. I am also a sucker for the Kinder Chocolate brand from Ferrero, technically Italian yet basically created in Germany. I also love "Baci" chocolates from Perugina but those are not as known.

Anything in moderation us fine though, and I'm sure having Nutella once or twice a week is fine.

Unfortunately like I said with it being so popular, the amount of jars we'd go through, I think all my family is tempted to just get a spoonfull every time they're on the way past!

I've actually made a fruit dip out of Nutella before too - it's super easy, just 1 cup Nutella, 1 cup of Cool Whip and an 8oz packet of cream cheese - whip it all up together and it's a nice light mousse like consistency - and I figure if I'm using fruit to dip into it it's somewhat healthy...right? ;)

Of course it's fine as long as you don't binge on it but I must disagree about it being not so unhealthy and I'm not just talking about the calories! Ferrero advertises it as a hazelnut based spread but in fact hazelnuts are only 13% of the whole jar, the rest is made of sugars, palm oil and saturated fats. There are healthier spreads with a higher percentage of hazelnuts as opposed to the other ingredients, some of them go up to 45% of hazelnuts, they have the same amount of calories as Nutella and if you ask me they are tastier but the price goes up.
That said, I like Nutella and I like every single thing Ferrero produces. :)

I absolutely love nutella and my childhood was basically all about me asking for it and my parents buying those knock-off 'hazelnut spreads'. But once I got a jar as a present, or bough a real nutella for myself It was like christmas. On toast, pancakes, cookies, or just a spoonful with milk.

Nutella is clearly the favourite when it comes to these types of spreads, and like you say, there are a lot of the cheaper imitations around but none can compete with the original.

That's probably the reason it's still quite expensive for what it is, they know that they don't really have any competition.

Actually I remember seeing somewhere that making your own hazelnut spread is actually quite easy. You simply need some chocolate, hazelnuts. sweetened milk, salt and something like honey to use as a sweetener and that's it. Homemade is always going to be better since you will never add artificial stuff that's needed to preserve the product. I think that's the only healthy way to go, but even then you should never over do it since hazelnuts are very calorie dense and high in fats (healthy fats though), and you are adding chocolate to the mix.

I am seriously thinking about preparing my own nutella, if it works I'll let you guys know.

Yes, making your own hazelnut spread is quite easy, I've found many good recipes. You'll just need a good blender and you are good to go. I would leave the honey out though, because I don't like its taste. I think the trick is making only a small quantity, enough to last for a few days in the fridge. That way we wouldn't need to worry about the lack of preservatives and we'd eat fresh stuff. I'm going to try it out in the next few days, I'll let you know how it goes. :)

I don't know anyone who does not like Nutella. Well Nutella is my all-time favorite chocolate spread. I usually eat it with cookies and biscuits. I don't like it in bread though but I find it really delicious and mouth-watering. I've also tasted some like Homebrand Choco Spread and Goya but nothing beats Nutella, it's definitely the best! :)

I am still pretty amazed to say that I have actually never had the stuff yet. I have seen it all over, been around it, but for some reason I just have never had the chance, which I guess means physically fed to me. I will try it eventually though....maybe.
