Those pictures look amazing! (although, I ate so much these past few days, I think I'm gonna eat dry bread with salt from now on :P LOL!)

I actually wanted to 'treat' my family to a nice, typical (well... almost typical) Italian Christmas dinner. Or at least, they could have had a taste of the cotechino, panettone and shrimp (and/or other dishes), but they are just soooo stubborn! So we ate turkey and normal Christmas food instead (like we always used to during the holidays).

The only thing "Italian" we had these past few days was a nice pandoro cake :) It looks like this:

I think it's a typical "dolce", I see many, many gelaterias make it, and other sweet shops as well, it's pandoro, cut in horizontal slices, filled with mascarpone cream and whipped cream on top. It's amazing! Finger licking good :P

I have never visited Italy during the holidays and am wondering if there is a traditional food that is served on this special day. I just finished eating the usual turkey, potatoes and half a dozen vegetables. Sadly I had no space left for dessert.

As far as i know i don't really think their is a special kind of meal that is prepared during holidays in Italy it just depends on the individual family.
