The Most Popular Sport In Italy.

This is a world cup year? Excuse my ignorance! :D LOL :D

Seriously, I never watch sports. I have a lot of friends (male friends, most of them I used to go to school with) who pay for that Sky thing to watch football and motor races and I seriously can't understand how is that entertaining :D

I think by far, soccer is the most popular sport that is played in Italy. I think that either lacrosse or rugby comes in second. I enjoy watching them play soccer immensely.

I certainly agree with you on this because in Italy it appears soccer is like a religion. So placing soccer at the top of the list would certainly be in order.

No doubt it's football! It certainly is famous worldwide. People around the world contest and cheer for each of their favorite teams or players. Italy's squad for instance has won the World cup a couple of times which puts them 4th in the global ranking of the cup title holders. These wins made this players heroes back home. Thus, gaining a lot of supporters all around the world even in other countries.

The most popular sport in the world is soccer/football, so I would not be too surprised if it is also the number 1 sport in Italy. Italian football team seems to be very popular outside of Italy too, with fans everywhere. Italian futsal team has shown to be among the top 4 in the world last year, so I'm crossing my fingers hoping that they sport too becomes a popular one. Basketball is among the top 10 most popular sports in the world, and Italy's teams are not unheard of in the forums. Those are the three sports that I think should be the most popular sports in Italy.

Football (soccer for Americans haha) is by far the most popular team sport in Italy. The top Italian football league, Serie A, is extremely competitive and recognized throughout the world as a prestigious organization. In fact, two Italian clubs rank in the top 10 most wealthy football clubs in the world. This shows that football is a well organized and important sport in Italy.

Far and away football is the most popular sport there. That's traditionally where the money (and the scandal) has been. Rugby has some regional representation. But realistically, there are few non-footballing sportsmen in Italy that the rest of the world will be familiar with.
