Is it bad that I have never seen it? There have been countless people say it was one of the best films of all time, yet I never seem to see the appeal behind it. Mobsters and the life they are living is not that interesting for me. Maybe because I'm more into fantasy stories?
I haven't seen this movie yet but most of the people who have watched the movie and understand it have said one thing in common, this movie is marvelous and a masterpiece! Me and my hubby loves to watch mob movies like Donnie Brasco, Casino, Goodfellas and the like but we haven't seen The Godfather yet but we're planning to watch it as we know that we will definitely like it
Really? Well I won't be surprised since a lot of people who have watched The Godfather trilogy said that it's an all time classic. I've never heard even one who complained or say that it's boring or it's not good. I'm not really a fan of mob films but since my hubby loves this kind of movies, and I've seen a lot that are actually good, now I'm also a fan of them. I guess I'm missing one since I haven't seen The Godfather yet, but I'll definitely willIf you like mob movies (like I do as well) then you'll definitely enjoy this series of films. For me The Godfather is probably THE movie that paved the way for all the rest, and while they are starting to look a little dated now, the storyline and acting are timeless. There aren't many movies that are as good today as when they first came out, but with The Godfather trilogy and especially the first one, it's a movie that you'll never get tired of watching.
I think things like this brings up an interesting point (as do you @to7update) and I think that many people will see a film such as The Godfather and immediately think that's what Italy and Italians are all like. I know I was a teenager when I first watched the film and I automatically thought that every Italian was related to the mafia and I imagined Italy itself as having no large towns or cities but was just all countryside and little farms and villages.
That isn't the case of course, but do Italians worry about what the rest of the world thinks of them, and do they get sick of being pigeonholed into 'oh well if you're Italian then you must know a few gangsters', which is what a lot of people still think.
