Eurail passes are popular with tourists who like to travel independently, but they can be restricting and quite expensive. It is worth comparing prices for these passes with the journey costs if you book on a discount site.

Hi Champers. I may be way off base here but my impression of Eurail passes is that they are better for multi-country journeys. If you plan to use the trains a lot in Italy alone I am sure there will be a better option.
