Italian Woman Sues Peppa Pig Producers

Interesting I'm not a lawyer but there's the ruling of what a reasonable person would do. Should it be expected that Peppa Pig search if anyone is named the same as their show name and ask for permission? Should a reasonable person feel injusticed if Peppa Pig made a show sharing their name by coincidence?
I feel the reasons this person is teased wasn't just because of the show...

I am reading and re-reading this thread and I am amazed with what I am reading! :D How can someone in it's right mind consider that they might sue a cartoon producer just because the cartoon have the same name as they do? It's a case of insanity in my opinion, I don't even know how the Italian courts of law accept a case like this, it's something unusual.

Nothing more has been reported on this story and to be honest this may have backfired on her and even more people are poking fun at her for not being able to differentiate between a cartoon character and a human being.

I think they may be trying for damages, but proving damages is always hard because the evidence would be her reputation was lost because people were not intelligent enough to distinguish the difference between a cartoon character and herself. Or that she lost business because of it, no one in their right mind would admit they chose not to do business with someone because they got her confused.

Pretty much, I don't think she has a case to start with, so most likely this died on the spot. I was looking on Google to see if further news came up, but all I could found was the original news back from November, still a good and amusing read... :D

It should be boring, for Italian justice system is quite untimely and insane. I doubt people would be patient enough to wait and follow through. The media should give them a reason to be anticipating anything. Even if it turns out that the court ruling is that it was just a matter of copyright or intellectual property, I think me gets that this case is NOT about Gabriella Capra. (God knows what it's really about.)

Peppa Pig does have lots of products out the market for sale. Since it's huge in the market, one thinks about the royalty sometimes. Or is it royalty schemes? :D IDK what they're called or how they're assigned, but there must be experts who know and care about these rights.

I doubt that the case is continuing because it's gone quiet. They can't rule on copyright as you can't copyright names, but you can trademark them only if your product is renowned and established. Just imagine the precedent if they did as there are quite a few people with the same name. She is trying to imply that people would confuse her with a cartoon character and hence it has ruined her reputation. There is no doubt there can be no confusion not only in appearance or in how they speak, so her case really has no merit.

Oh my God, that is actually sort of hilarious. I mean, that must suck a little, but she will end up getting over it. I actually know someone who is named "Winston Wolf" like the character in Pulp Fiction! Except the Winston I know was born before the movie even came out.
