That is interesting, I never would have thought that. I always think of Italy (especially in the south) as a place where people eat and live off the land. I would have assumed the water would have been fine to drink. Thanks for sharing this it is good to know. Constantly buying bottled water must get very expensive.
Do people there buy a lot of water filters instead?
The regions of Italy that I've been in have been fine with drinking water from the tap...but in other countries I've travelled to (I've done a lot of backpacking around Asia) bottled water was a must. Thankfully there it was super cheap since it was a real necessity - probably the equivalent of 10-20 US cents a bottle from memory. This was a few years back now though.
