Italy sure is the home of well known quality and high profile kinds of wine with great varieties known all over the world. I'm only used to a very few of the wines. It's difficult to conclude on one as my most favorite since the different wines have their own unique make and compositions. That said, I think I'm more drawn to the red wine Salice Salentino made from a special type of grapes with typically pleasant smell.

Lambrusco is my favorite Italian Wine. The Grapes and the Wine originate in Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy. Sunday dinners always included a nice Lambrusco with our Pasta.:)

Some Italian wines considered to be among the best in the country and in the world are classified as Vino da Tavola, these are my favorites: L'Apparitta, Le Pergole Torte and Terre Alte.

If yоu'rе lооking fоr gооd Itаliаn winеs, nоt tоо muсh еxpеnsivе, try winеs оf Саntinа di Sоаvе: it's а big сооpеrаtivе in Vеnеtо, аnd mаkеs а lоt оf winеs whitе аnd rеd оf gооd quаlity, sоmеtimеs vеry gооd. Sоаvе, Vаlpоliсеllа, аmаrоnе, Bаrdоlinо...yоu саn find аll thе priсеs. I wоrkеd with thеm sоmе yеаrs аgо, sо I hаd thе pоssibility tо try аll thеirs winеs.

I rесоmmеnd: Whitе-Sоаvе (frоm prоduсеrs likе Inаmа, Gini, Piеrоpаn), Grесо di Tufо аnd Fiаnо di аvеllinо (frоm just аbоut аnyоnе), Sаuvignоn Blаnс frоm thе аltо аdigе rеgiоn (similаr tо NZ but nоt аs grаssy)
Rеds-Nеrо d'аvоlа frоm Siсiliy, Nеrеllо Mаsсаlеsе frоm Siсily, Rеds frоm Sаrdеgnа аnd аpuliа.

Yоu hаvе tо try winе frоm Gаrdа's lаkе оr frоm Vеnеtо rеgiоn. Try аlsо Prоsессо di Vаldоbbiаdеnе. Wе mix it with аpеrоl ( оr саmpаri) tо оbtаin "Spritz" ...

I cannot really say that I would recognize any name or brand or anything, as I am not a big wine drinker, but the stuff we had over there was in fact generally much better than anything we get around here. I probably would drink more if it all tasted like that.

I recommend strongly to taste Italian wine. Especially, in special occasions, celebrating a victory, new year or another celebration. The wine becomes the momento more special. Check my list.

I live in Lambrusco land (right on the border or Emilia and Lombardia) and have only just recently started to like it. There is a vineyard just around the corner that sells various types and many of the locals buy it in bulk and bottle it themselves. The good thing about Lambrusco is that it is relatively light wine (11% alcohol) compared to some of the wines from the south with can be 13%.

However, I believe that it’s one of those wines that you either love or hate as there is no other type of wine like it. (sparking red wine)

Bellavista Franciacorta Cuvée is my favourite. This Champagne-method sparkler from Lombardy is a crisp yet fruity blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco and Pinot Nero, and completely scrumptious. Aged for two years before bottling, it is marked by a charming peachiness and makes an absurdly fine aperitif. It's the best I've come across.
