As people are starting to plan ahead for the summer, what are some things that can be recommended particularly for the summer time when visiting Italy. Besides, the regular tourist destinations, are there any special events in the summer?

Oh boy! I can't wait for summer!

Lately, since my boyfriend and I weren't able to have all the vacation days off at the same time, we did a lot of travelling for just 1-2 days (mostly weekends). City breaks, I think that's what they're called.

One of my favorite destinations is the beach. Well, we prefer the quiet areas, events are often too loud so the lake is where we usually go (since it's also relatively close by). But, if you're looking for events and adventure, I recommend the fun-parks, there are a ton of them: Gardaland, Mirabilandia, Oltremare, Aquafan, Fiabilandia, Little Italy (Italia in miniatura)... and so many others! These theme parks usually have lots of events during the summer, especially for children. All of them have their own website and events are usually announced weeks earlier!

Also, one of the things I love lately, is the possibility to travel by train, on any Saturday, 2 people with 1 ticket. So, if you're up for a 1 day trip (to Venice, to Rome, to Florence, Naples.... any big, important, touristy city!), I recommend you take advantage of this offer. It's only available for Saturdays though, so you'd have to leave in the morning and come back on the same day (or, stay for one entire week, if you want... up to you!).

Summer in Italy is Great if you were in their Cities. There are Famous Cities in Italy such as ROME,FLORENCE and Venice are full of Historical Places. I loved the ambiance of MILAN at night such a romantic place. Also in Milan there is more cultural attraction such as Scala opera house and Pinacoteca di Brera art gallery.

Oh man, Italy in the summertime sounds FANTASTIC. All the fresh seafood, the beaches, atmosphere. When I get the chance, I'm FOR SURE going to Venice for the summer. The canals are pretty cool

There are more festivals due to the weather being better, especially opera festivals or music concerts. It depends on what you enjoy, but as many places are only open for the summer, it's a good time to visit the islands as often ferries don't operate after the season and many bed and breakfasts close down too. I also like to go the the markets as usually there is more choice as more vendors set up stands and are willing to travel as there are more people around.

I had not thought about the fresh seafood during the summer. I was wondering if there are certain foods that you find in the summer that you don't find at other times in Italy.

Aside from going to the beach, I prefer to head to the mountains to experience some cooler air. I mainly visit the Trentino region as it's just a few hours drive.

From May to September, Italy is full of outdoor events. You never have to travel too far to find some event even in rural areas.
