Which tastes the best to you? I must admit I prefer white pasta, although some companies are making pasta half and half or adding fiber to it. I know wholewheat is healthier, but it doesn't taste quite the same.

Whenever I find one that is 50% wholewheat it's a good compromise of healthy and tasty.

There's wholeweat pasta...? That's interesting, because during my time in Europe, I never saw it on supermarket shelves. Anyway, I can't imagine any other kind of pasta than the traditional white. I feel like pasta is already a pretty healthy dish?

Yeah, there are a whole variety of new pastas on the market, in the US at least. Some of them even incorporate ingredients like beans into the pasta dough, to make them gluten free, low carb or whatever. I've also seen them incorporating stuff like tomatoes and other veggie to bump up the nutrients.

Personally I just stick to plain white pasta and simply eat it in moderation. These other pastas are interesting, but I'm really not a fan of the flavor, heaviness, and density of whole wheat pastas. There are some brands on the market that hide the whole wheat look and taste better than others but I can still tell when it's not regular white pasta. Plus all the nutrients they are trying to stick into these you can easily add via whatever sauce you are preparing.

You can easily cut the carbs and calories from a pasta dish in half simply by cutting your portion of the pasta itself in half and replacing that with some cooked veggies in the sauce to bulk the dish back up.

It's just a personal preference, but I would rather get my whole wheat from stuff like breads and muffins rather than mess with pasta.

Yes, I forgot there is spinach and tomato pasta too to make it look more colorful, especially for salads, but I doubt the nutritional quality is significant.
Even some white pasta contains some wholewheat as some companies are aware people are looking to add fiber to their diet, so it's a marketing ploy too. Personally I have never found the spinach one very tasty and ate it because I thought I was adding to my intake of vegetables.

Recently may parents have had to switch to wholewheat as they are diabetic, hence I have found more stores have it, but is more expensive.

Some people say there isn't that much difference between the two but I think there is, from cooking it, the way it cooks to the way it tastes. I've tried the wholeweat one onnce (when i bought it by accident, don't ask) and its something I won't be doing again if I'm honest.

Stick with the traditional white for me.

I can't vote in the poll, since I've never had wholewheat pasta before :D

But I am very curious to find out how it tastes. Next time I go shopping, I'll grab bag of wholewheat pasta :)

I have read that, in fact, whole wheat is a lot healthier than white pasta. Of course, some "specialists" say that white pasta is actually bad for you, empty carbs.. ecc., ecc., and whole wheat pasta is the healthy choice, ecc., ecc. :) Well, frankly everyone I know eats white pasta, so I just assumed it's the better choice. But now I'm really curious about the differences!

Try it @Rosie ! I'm sure you can find the 50% wholewheat ones as Barilla does a version, but that tastes the same nearly. The 100% tastes different and takes longer to cook, but try it so you can compare. It's better with tomato sauces than cream ones, or pesto.

Prefer definitely the white pasta. I tried the wholewheat and I really disliked the taste. The whole pasta-flavor is different and even gone. Really not worth it as far as taste goes. I suppose it can be healthier but I'd rather go white and add healthy ingredients such as lean mince or veggies to the pasta than using pasta that tastes like cardboard.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks wholewheat doesn't taste as good. White pasta is more popular and it's a shame the wholewheat doesn't have the same kick. I enjoy a nice bowl of pasta with a cream sauce, but once I tried to be healthier and use wholewheat and I ruined the whole memory of the dish. I had to keep saying to myself, I was getting more fiber so I could finish it.

White pasta generally tasted better to me, whoops. My father says that whole wheat pasta tastes "exactly the same" but hah no it really doesn't. I've had a some weird types of soba, like the mugwort soba, wild yam, and kumut soba. They all taste weird to me. Normal soba is made with buckwheat, by the way.

I definitely prefer white pasta. It may not be as healthy, but I'm more used to it, and I rarely eat or buy wholewheat pasta. It may be far healthier, but to me, it just doesn't taste as good. However, if I was trying to be healthier and consume more fiber (like I should), I wouldn't mind it.

I think the regular white pasta tastes so much better then whole wheat, but it isn't good for you at all. I don't eat pasta much so when I do I usually splurge and go for the white pasta. I've has whole wheat pasta before. It isn't horrible but I don't think it compares to go old white pasta.
