For those of you who enjoy Biscuit Tortoni, do you like to top it with cherries, almonds, or other kinds of nuts? I would have to go with almonds since I'm not a big cherry fan. Do you prefer it over traditional ice cream dishes? It's so much more rich and wholesome due to the heavy cream and egg. Definitely an awesome treat if you ask me!

I love it with almonds. I'm not a fan of cherries either. It is funny how it is not served in most Italian restaurants in America. It is such a rich and classy dessert, I think it is mainly found in a few fine dining establishments now.

Almonds, as I can't stand cherries for the life of me. I don't think anyone ever tops them with cherries. I think its really more of an Italian tradition and dish that Americans just never caught on to, and that they wouldn't be able to really alter in any way so it just stayed their.

So, I'm the only fan of cherries? Good, more cherries for me! :D haha

I'm a really big fan of ice cream dishes :) Actually, I think gelato is a different term, it does translate to "ice cream", but it's really not the exact same thing, gelato's much better :P

For those of you who don't know what a "biscuit Tortoni" is: this dessert actually originated in Paris and not Italy. But, it was "invented" by an Italian so, it counts as Italian :) Basically, this Italian guy, Alessandro Tortoni, started working in a caffee in Paris and invented the "gelato bomb", and after a while, the "biscuit Tortoni" or "biscotto gelato" meaning the frozen biscuit. It's basically gelato, amaretti and rhum. The perfect combination! :)
