What's your favorite type of spagetti? I generally like capellini/angel hair pasta and linguine pasta. I never knew about the Spaghettini and Spaghettoni types though! Also the fusili lunghi looks very interesting!

What makes "spaghetti" different from other types of pasta? Why is penne or farfalle not a "spaghetti" but fettuccine is?

I would call all the above pasta except the actual spaghetti to be honest. Each pasta has it's own name even though it may be similar on shape to another. It depends on how Italian you are, because you would never call linguine or fettuccine, spaghetti in Italy if you are a pasta connoisseur. The best way is to call it is a strand pasta or a ribbon pasta. Here is a guide to 400 types.

I'm not used to calling spaghetti pasta. But that is what they all are. All 400 types of them are pasta!
