Did you notice how you see the same movies over and over again on TV? TV series too, I think it's the 5th time I see Walker, Texas Ranger all over again.
Why is that?

This is one of the reasons why I don't watch that much TV in Italy. I even had Pay TV (Mediaset premium) at one point but found it's the same old films over and over again.

I usually rent the movies I want to watch, I have also seen Walker so many times, I know the lines by heart :P

Because Berlusconi bought the back catalogue and wants his moneys worth. Premiered on Italia 1 , then premiered on Channel 5 and then 1 st for channel 4 Premiere - rotating rubbish. You can watch the same terrible film every month at primetime on a different channel.. he assumes the audience are too stupid to realise, and more pertinently, the advertisers

Hahah, you're right, the same movie premieres on different channels every other month!
Well, this is why I rent movies, so that I can see something else than what they show on TV :P.

Oh... I hate this too :D One of the reasons I don't really watch TV...

By the way, if there is anyone in Italy, anyone at all, who hasn't seen the Harry Potter movies when they appeared or the 3 or 4 times they showed them on TV already, you now have the chance to see one of the Harry Potter movies this Saturday! hihihi

I have more or less given up on watching live tv. I actually watch more films or programs through catch up tv or other streaming services. it's great, you can pause, stop and resume the programs when you want.

I am currently using netflix through a vpn connection as they currently do not offer services in Italy. The quality of the streams are actually very good and they have a reasonable selection of films to choose from.

It is really terrible to keep seeing the same thing again and again on tv. I have got the lines by heart of the movies that I used to watch repeatedly on the TV. At first they were all very interesting and then the boredom came upon me, and I stopped watching TV to a great extent. I hope there will be atleast some change in the future.

I didn't notice. Is it something totally new or has it been like that for a while? The internet can be an alternative to watch TV shows, too, in case you get bored. Look for TV streaming services like Netflix and Videostripe for movies.

Luca is right.... they really are showing the same stuff over and over again, and if you want to see something else.. just pay for infinity tv or sky on demand or whatever other services are available :p

However, secondo me, there are very few people who pay for these services. For instance, I wonder why infinity tv started with a €10 fee, then they lowered it and now it's only €4,99...

Anyway, it's enough I pay €113,50 each January to be able to have basic cable! I will never ever agree to paying extra to be able to see some movies, it's a rip off :p And as far as the same movies being transmitted over and over again.... let's see, they're showing Xena Warrior Princess lately, so that brings back memories, I've seen the Madagascar, Megamind, Bee Story and other movies 100 times already, but I'd watch them again because I love animation films!! Oh, and what's November and December without Home Alone, Grinch, the Santa Claus movies and so on :D

Because they are probably cashing in on movies that they have already broadcast before, or they don't have any new movies to broadcast. This is a common thing here on TV. Almost all of them broadcast the same movies they did a month ago, or a year ago, or even a few years ago. They probably didn't buy the rights or whatever for the newest movies, and they are broadcasting what they already have for broadcasting, which is something they used before.

It happens here as well. You can watch the same show over and over again and that on different channels. My grandma is driving me crazy with her soap operas. There may be only two soap operas that she's interested in, but they're being broadcast on various channels, so it's a nightmare. God bless the headphones! Sometimes, though, not even they can help. I guess the theory with the rights not being bought for the newer shows and movies makes sense. Why else would you broadcast the same thing over and over again (unless you don't really have anything else to broadcast)? Hopefully, things will change. There are so many interesting shows out there, it would be a shame not to see them.
