TV License

If you have a tv in your home then you do need a tv licence.


This year (2006) the Licence costs 99.60 euro. The price is the same for all of italy and does not change region by region.

They say that anyone who has a TV, Radio, Computer and even a mobile phone may have to pay. And its up to the customer to prove that they dont have any of these rathar than RAI prove that you do!

So in short, if this law goes ahead (Described as legal robbery by some) then they will add the charges to your ENEL bill.

I've heard that there used to be a tax in Italy for having a stereo in your car.

But now if this goes ahead you have a tax for a computer, mobile phone or TV.

Quite, except that the tax on computers and mobiles appears so far to be only hypothetical (i.e. not in the actual proposal as it stands), and I suspect a bit of "alarmismo" by the consumers' association. The tax on car radios was abolished by the government before Berlusca II. Anyway, I haven't got a television. Any idea what a "dichiarazione sostitutiva di atto notorio" might be ?

It is a legal declaration document. In this case you would have to fill in the standard form to state legally that you do not own a tv nor does anyone else in your home (Family). Here is a ( link Removed by admin as broken) to see what one looks like.
