Italy is such beautiful place and there is so much to see and enjoy over here. But as a tourist do you prefer certain weather for travelling or a certain part of the day. According to me evening in summer is the best time to travel. What is your opinion?

I prefer to go out of season, Spring or Autumn as it is less touristy, though not everywhere will be open. Summer is too hot for me in some places and I like to have space and quiet. The cities are different and you can go anytime, but summer is always queues everywhere and you don't get to see and appreciate everything as much.

Well, if you have to choose a season, I'd recommend spring or late spring. August is the most crowded period of the year, but I think this is because most people can only afford to take their vacations during the summer, otherwise I can't explain why would you want to take your vacation in Italy, exactly when the weather is extremely hot, it's not eve pleasant, it's a nightmare :(

Winter is nice too, if you don't mind the snowy roads or blocked highways :D It's a risk, although it's not like this has to happen... It all depends on the weather.

As far as Autumn goes.... well, it's been raining cats and dogs over here for days, there are floods, it's cold, autumn is just not a good time for travel!

Now, time of the day... hmm..

Well, I love early mornings, the streets are not that crowded, people are either asleep or at work, so you can roam the streets in peace :P

At noon, you should know every single store closes, it's a "thing" that surprises many tourists. From noon to 2-3 o'clock in the afternoon, everyone is having lunch, taking a break from work. Streets are empty though, so taking a walk can be quite interesting, especially if you plan on taking photos without too many people blocking your view :D

At night, that's when the cities come to life :) And it makes sense, people go out after their siesta, go out to eat, go out to meet friends, etc. So, at night, the streets are usually crowded.

I'll second what Rosie said above, avoid August if possible as everywhere becomes expensive. (National holiday)

If you’re planning a beach type holiday, I would suggest June, July and September.

If you planning on visiting major tourist cities, spring or autumn are the best times as the heat is bearable. (Not much fun walking around in a city when it’s 35°c in the shade during the summer months)

If you like skiing, then of course the winter months are just perfect.

I always feel the best time to travel is in the Spring or early Summer. I love when the weather is just perfect. It is not too cold or too hot. The flowers are blooming and the animals are out of hibernation. I just love this time of year. When you enjoy the weather, you can enjoy what's around you even more.

I like to travel in the fall and spring months, when only a light jacket is needed. I hate the cold and would never want to travel during the winter months. I also think the summer months are way to hot in Italy, especially when the cities are crowded with tourists. I think fall and spring when the students are back in school is the best time to travel, the weather is perfect and the cities aren't too crowded with families on vacation.

For me there isn't really a best or worst time to travel, and I'm more than happy to go whatever season. While I think sometimes travelling at the height of summer can be a little uncomfortable sometimes, it certainly wouldn't put me off going anywhere.
