I recently had a new adsl and telephone line installed by Telecom Italia. I noticed that when people called me that their phone number was not displayed on the home phone. I thought something was not right so decided to call customer services.

The operator checked and explained that the option was not active. I asked why it was an option and not a standard part of the service? Of course, they where very happy to activate this so called option for €2 a month.

I can't believe that in 2014, you have to pay to see who is calling you!

Wow, unbelievable indeed!
Well, I only have a smartphone, so I always see who's calling anyway :D But that's not the point.
It might be "only €2 a month", but since we live in the era of conspiracies, as a joke, who knows what will they come up next? :D

I have used Tiscali before and they don't charge anything for this service.

In fact, I'm pretty sure that Telecom Italia are the only company that does.

It's a bit of a joke really and I would of thought that in the interest of privacy, they would at least offer this free.

I like to see who is calling me before I answer. Most callers who withhold their number are 99% from people trying to sell you something.

I was not aware of this option, but it's not a big surprise that big company try to sell everything :/
