It seems that the general feeling among the Italian people about the birth of the new royal prince of England is one of little interest. Some of the Italian people were interviewed while shopping, and their remarks ranged from 'yeah, I am happy for the parents' to 'I could not care less'.

Well, why should they care? I'm suprised that it's such huge news everywhere, honestly. It's a baby. A baby in country that used to be huge power, but isn't right now. Why should people from a completely different country care that a British royal family (who needs royal families in XXI century?) had a child.
I think the Italian people have the right attitude.

That is exactly what the Italian men said when they were interviewed. ;) The women were happy in the sense that a new baby in the family is always a reason for celebration, but they said nothing about the fact that the baby is a future king.

Well I'm British and I couldn't care less! I think the monarchy is outdated and costs too much. I am sick and tired of wall to wall news coverage, first of the "early stages of labour" and now of the actual baby!

I am happy of the news but that's because I am British. One thing that I have noticed in recent weeks is the Italian media going a bit over the top with everyday having something to say about the story.

I guess people have become a bit fed up with the story.

Still I wish the happy couple much happiness with their new born just like I would with any normal family.

One thing that I thought was strange is that they have already been released from hospital. In Italy, they usually keep the mother and child in hospital for at least 3 days after giving birth.

I also read that the hospital room where she stayed costs £5000 a night. Not sure how true it is but if they really wanted grab people's hearts they could of chosen a national health service hospital just like the millions of normal mothers are forced to do (with the extra security)

I'm happy for them as well, but again, I am British. I can underastand why the Italians don't really care though - if there was any significant birth in Italy, I wouldn't really care either. Although Italian babies are cute so I would probably be interested enough to look at pictures, but then I'd forget and move on!

I hear what you are saying, cefmac, but many other countries are interested in this newly born prince, not only British people. Anyway, I am also happy for the couple. Kings and queens always interested me, and the idea of palaces and castles makes want to go back to the medieval times.

I think that all news about celebrities getting married, having babies or other events in their lives are all over the top!

I am always happy when a couple has babies because babies are cute and all, but why can't they just leave these people alone to be happy about the birth of their first child?

I have also noticed how they fill the news with things like "Kate was wearing a custom-made, light blue polka-dot dress by British designer Jenny Packham"... good for her, she has a dress! Then they keep on talking, comparing this event to the one 30 years ago, then they keep on talking about how Kate's mom is a former air stewardess turned businesswoman and then became duchess...

After seeing how they treat this piece of news, I'm pretty sure people are fed up with gossip and all these stories that have nothing to do with the birth of the new baby.

Polish TV keeps talking about it. About the royal hairdresser visiting Kate and the speculation on the names and the baby room and so many other ridiculous things. I mean, I know that in the United Kingdom some monarchists might be fascinated by it, but is there seriously a single Pole (or a person of any other nationality unrelated to the UK) that's actually interested in that poor baby?

Well, I know many on here could not care less but at least a name has be chosen. He has been called George Alexander Louis.

Hopefully, now the media can turn to something else!

Well, it would probably be understandable if the Brits were making a fuss about it, but to other countries, it doesn't really concern them. Well some people of different countries might be interested, but I'm sure they don't need as much information.

That's a beautiful name :) Also, that baby doesn't know it yet, but he is so damn lucky to be born in the royal family :D

As far as moving on to other news... I doubt it. I'm sure there will be a pause but I bet they'll keep on talking about the celebration on the baby's 6th month anniversary, then his first steps, first words, first day of school, first EVERYTHING.

As I see it, celebrities don't get a break, I bet they're stressed out even when sitting on the toilet. Excuse the rudeness :D but it's how I see it.

They already talk about Kate and her "baby weight" and how fast should she lose it. That's kind of disgusting, in my opinion. She's not some reality TV star or a model who needs to be back to thin in weeks after giving birth, she doesn't need to lose that weight fast.

I know, that's just plain wrong. But there are people, especially those of the media, who expects her to be "perfect" in a way because she's part of the royal family, and she shows up a lot on tele.
