Most Beautiful Cities In Italy?

I am all for the old cities and coastline villages. I like history and big monuments but I am not crazy about sensationalism in general so Colosseum is not my first choice so Rome is not as well. I like to feel the soul of a country and that is found in suburbs and small coastline villages. I have seen it some other countries and I would really like to go and live in Italy for a while. Maybe some day I will and I would go to far south all the way to Sicily.

I have always had a fascination for Venice, as it is an incredibly romantic city, with all the scenes from movies and even cartoons I have seen growing up. With the moonlight, the romantic music, the pretty lights, and you on a canoe with your loved one, it would definitely be a great experience that would be a really memorable one. I would love to see it with my own eyes someday, and hopefully when that time comes, there would be someone there with me to appreciate the scene together.

Venice, Rome and Florence are definitely amazing... but if you are travelling around Italy, I would also recommend trying some "off the beaten path" destinations to have a real taste of what living in Italy means. Forinstance, why not visiting Parma? It is a middle size city, with loads of culture, art, music tradition... and the best food in the entire country! Check Maestro Travel Experience website out if you want to know more about it :)

That's a good tip really @Lisa - Maestro Travel. I mean, I love to see the most beautiful locations like Venice and Rome, but Italy is certainly much more than that and nothing like getting out of the locations packed by tourists and see the real country. One of the locations I'd love to visit is Sardinia, this seems to be a paradise island!

Well I am a person who tends to like the more historical cities versus the tropical like atmospheres, although I certainly know those are nice too. When I went to Italy, I absolutely loved the city of Florence. It was so beautiful in the way it was set up and the history and just everything about it. That wins for me.

I love a mix to be honest, much due to the influence of my wife who loves to know the historical places, monuments, architecture and so on. Thinking of these I think there is no better place than Italy as it is one of the countries in the world with more history and monuments, so certainly it has to be really interesting to visit quite a few cities.

Italy itself is such a very beautiful country with so many great cities around. It's not an easy task pointing one or two as the most beautiful of all the fine fine cities in Italy. I'd say, in my calculation Florence which is home of great art works and Rome are the two most beautiful cities. The Vatican in Rome gives the city a greater hedge

Vеniсе is аll аbоut thе wаtеr - сruisе оn а vаpоrеttо, thе gоndоlаs аrе vеry еxpеnsivе. Whеn visiting St. Mаrks, try аnd tаkе in thе mаgnifiсеnt Byzаntinе sсrееn аt thе аltеr. Strоll аlоng thе Grаnd саnаl аnd сrоss thе Riаltо Bridgе аnd аdmirе thе Bridgе оf Sighs.
Milаn is fоr shоpping, аnd thе fаmоus Gаllеriа is right nеxt tо thе Duоmо, Milаn's grеаt саthеdrаl. If yоu аrе intеrеstеd in musiс, spесifiсаlly оpеrа, оnе оf thе mоst fаmоus оpеrа hоusеs in еurоpе is thе Sсаlа - аlsо сlоsе tо thе Gаllеriа. Fоr аrt, yоu shоuld visit thе Brеrа.

Venice is worldwide known @JimGoodman and just recently I went to Amsterdam and everyone was telling me that it is "another" Venice, so it even gives name to other cities. Venice is definitely a city I will visit because all those canals and the romantic boat tours there have to be something memorable. Thanks for those tips!

A few years ago I had the opportunity to visit Rome, Venice, Florence and the Amalfi Coast, and I have to say that I loved them all! The food, the people, the language and the breathtaking landscapes made me completely fall in love to this wonderful country. I went to the Amalfi Coast in June, so it wasn't very crowded yet and it was absolutely perfect, one of the best holidays I've already had in my life.

I'm looking forward to visit Milan next time I go to Italy.

Is this the Amalfi Coast you are talking about @Maysa?

No surprise you love it really, as this is a paradise location. I am imagining that in the summer it's impossible to be there because it's super crowded no?

I've been to San Gimignano and I really loved that place. The architecture of this town is stunning. The stone towers create a dramatic effect. Most of the people in Italy refer to it as 'The Medieval Manhattan' and trust me, it surely is.

Exactly. It's usually very crowded in Summer indeed, but I went to the Amalfi Coast in early June and I don't think it was as crowded as it is in July or August!

That has to be one of the best times to get a vacation in Italy, May/June and September/October and July and August it has to be super-crowded. Now I need to go to Amalfi Coast as that beach certainly seems one picture taken of a piece of heaven! :D

Thеrе аrе wаy tоо muсh, hоw саn I аnswеr ?
I саn spеаk аbоut my аrеа, I think thеrе аrе sоmе plасеs dеfinitеly wоrth а visit:

You sure can and it will be no lie @Terryy. :D

You seem to be describing historical places, and no question that Italy has to be one of the countries of the world with more history and architecture to show, but apart from history Italy also has a lot of natural beauties, namely by the coast, so it's a complete country in this aspect.

I likе Саpuа. It's thе mеdiеvаl сity thаt inhаbitаnts оf Sаntа Mаriа саpuа Vеtеrе built аftеr thе оссupаtiоn оf thе сity by thе Sаrасеni, thеy kеpt thе nаmе sо thеy саllеd it саpuа.
Thе mоst impоrtаnt mоnumеnts аrе thе duоmо аnd thе саstlе, саstеllо dеi Nоrmаnni.

In Pizzа Mеdаgliе D’оrо thеrе is аlsо thе mоst аnсiеnt insсriptiоn in vulgаr Itаliаn, it rеfеrs tо thе Plасitо di саpuа, thе mоst аnсiеnt dосumеnt in vulgаr Itаliаn wе hаvе.

Аmаlfi соаst, Саmpаniа! - is knоwn fоr its еxtrаоrdinаry bеаuty thаt mаkеs it оnе оf Itаly’s tоp tоurist dеstinаtiоns. аmаlfi соаst is prizеd fоr its piсturеsquе соаstlinе thаt fеаturеs shimmеring bаys, сrаggy сliffs, lеmоn trее gаrdеns, multiсоlоrеd villаs аnd ritzy rеsоrts.
