I am sadly, not a huge wine drinker but I do have my favorites. Moscato d'Asti is my favorite wine of all time. I prefer the "sparkling/sweet" type where the flavor is nice and mild and delicious. It also has the perk of a being a low alcohol wine, which is fantastic because I can actually drink a glass with out getting sleepy. (I'm one of those people who doesn't really get drunk, I just get very very sleepy and tired.)

Moscato d'Asti is a "Denominazione di origine controllata e garantita" sparkling white wine produced mainly in the province of Asti, north-west Italy, and in smaller nearby regions in the provinces of Alessandria and Cuneo. The wine is sweet and low in alcohol, and often enjoyed with dessert. Thus it is considered a dessert wine. It is from the Moscato bianco grape. A related wine, Asti, is produced in the same area from the same grape.

The brand I generally buy is the "Cupcake" brand. They make a good variety of wines, and a lot of people where I am like them. The brand has a good range of types and they're not expensive in the slightest.

So, does anyone else drink Moscato d'Asti? Do you like the sparkling/sweet type, the light and dry type or the rick and honey-like type?

My favorite alcoholic beverage ever! I'll take any brand of asti before champagne. I loved to buy a bottle of Asti Spumante at the local supermarket to go to the beach with -- a bit inconvenient because you sort of have to finish it if you open it, but the sweetness is worth everything! :) I have tried other sweet sparkling wines since (I don't like them dry), but none really quite compare.

When I was still drinking alcohol, which now is many years ago, I used to love Lambrusco. The sweet, heavy taste would lull me into a state of sleepy nostalgia and a sense of overall well-being. But that wasa long time ago. I gave up drinking for many different reasons. These days my favorite beverage is a strong moccachino with soy milk. ;)

This is also my all time favorite wine. My husband got me this wine about 4 years ago on New Year's Eve. I was hooked immediately. I have always enjoyed the sparkling and sweet type of wine. It is affordable and it hits the spot every time.
