So, everyone seems to really have a grudge against minister Kyenge.
I'm not talking about the banana attack, which I'm sure you know about. If not, read about it here.

I'm asking about your thoughts on what she thinks is OK to say as an Italian minister.
The latest news say that she understands that immigrants are against Italian laws. How can an Italian minister say such a thing? (the link is here, it's in Italian)

I have nothing against anyone, I don't understand politics anyway, but this is a bit too much if you'd ask me. An Italian minister defending the rage of immigrants against the Italian laws is too much.

So, what do you think? Is she doing this for the right reasons?

I read the link, well both links but I'm going to talk about the second one anyway. I'm not much into politics, let alone another country's, but this one sure is something. She's obviously being bias, and I understand the outrage of most people. She's a minister, yet she's disregarding Italian laws to support those who refuse to abide by it? I have nothing against immigrants, but if these immigrants refuse to contribute to the society and the new country that they're going to live in, then they better just not leave their home country. If she thinks that their lack of productiveness should be acceptable, then she shouldn't be a minister. Kinda reminds me of some immigrants who move here just to take advantage of our unemployment schemes and other benefits.

From the looks of it though I think this has got to do with racial issues. She's part Congolese and she has been discriminated and insulted countless times, so I wouldn't be surprised if she's like this to "protect" the foreign people' welfare.

You get this sort of thing everywhere, and people who are themselves immigrants are more likely to see things from the immigrants' point of view. The world belongs to us all and we should share, but some people want more than their fair share.

A lot of people that I know are angry because she said that in the future the young immigrants will take the place of the "old" italian...that to me sound as a "normal" thing, italians are having less and less child (and I think that in general the whole world should do the same), so I don't see anything wrong in this phrase.

Luca, I understand what you mean. I too think that we should all just try to get along, no matter where we choose to live.

I find it offensive that an Italian looks in a weird way at a foreigner and hates them just because they were not born in Italy, that's racism and I've met plenty of people like that.

But, as a minister of Italy, a person who vowed to respect the law and to protect the people of this country, to say that the laws should not apply to foreigners.. is just too much. If she can't "feel Italian" she should step down and let another person become minister in her place. A person who respects the laws of Italy because, in the end, if you choose to leave your own country you should respect the place where you choose to live, not mock it.

Rosie, sure this is true, coming to Italy one should follow and respect all the rules, and doing this have in exchange the full respect of the Italians :)
