I read in a news report that is not particularly likely for Berlusconi to go to jail. He has too much power and wealth, and many people are supporting him in this matter. I am not sure if this is a topic one is allowed to raise on this forum?

What most news agencies did not mention was the sentence was suspended. So unless he has some more underage bunga bunga parties he can't be jailed.

Aha, so this is why the online news report said that Berlusconi has too much money, power and influence to be jailed. I wonder what the Italian people think of the parties and suspended jail sentence?

He still has a lot of supporters but mostly people are sick of it. For years all you saw on the front page was; Football, The Vatican and him. In Italy they don't send old men to prison very often and because he is so rich and slippery nobody is surprised.

Although I think many would like to see this man put behind bars the reality is that it may not happen because of his age and he has money to pay the best lawyers and pay people to keep quiet.

In most countries around the world this man would of been in jail a long time ago. The last I heard he was convicted to 6 years for underage sex with Ruby but he has the right to appeal it further.

I have not watched the news recently so am unsure on the very latest update to him and the many cases against him.

That man could really use some time in prison! The number of bigger and smaller crimes he commited is enormous and that's just what we know about. There are surely some more skeletons in his closet... It saddens me that in this world some people can just avoid getting punished for their wrongdoings.

Look like you found the news first! I just read about it this morning. I didn't have the patience to find out about the sentence last night. They showed some things on TV, live, but I had better things to do. For instance, me taking a bath is a lot more important than Berlusconi :D

Yeah, house arrest means indeed that justice has been done, don't you think? I mean, sleeping in your own bed must be terrible. Oh, and eating out of your own clean plates instead of eating jail food must be gross too.

I try not to get mad, there's nothing any of us can do anyway. The saying that you see on the supreme court's walls, "LA LEGGE E' UGUALE PER TUTTI" serves for nothing more than to decorate the room.

It's clear that the famous saying "THE LAW IS THE SAME FOR EVERYONE" is not so true when it comes to Berlusconi.

He is using his x political influence to protest that he is innocent.

He has been very lucky to get away with things for so long but now it really is time to set an example and lock this man up.

In my country we have a saying, "So bad that even the gates of Hell will not open for him!". I think this applies to Berlusconi. He's survived so many scandals (there must surely be plenty more skeletons, hiding in his closet) that one or two more just won't hurt. I really do not know what will become of him but I think someday, somehow, the spider will get trapped in his own web.

I'm not from Italy - so I hope you all don't mind me weighing in on this! I just think it is sad that someone can get away with a crime just because they have money and expensive lawyers! What happened to common sense and human decency?! :)

I know the US is no better off! We have politicians, etc getting away with stuff every day! It makes me sick that if an "ordinary" person did what these people did we WOULD spend time in jail!!

Just my "two cents" worth! Sometimes it seems those in power act like spoiled children!!
