Has anyone else notice the growing concern of Italy for domestic violence?
I remember the news from a few years back, there were almost no reports of violence against women, yet now, all you see on the news is this: domestic violence. There are many women who are being mistreated, and in some cases it's even proven to be fatal.
The ones who escaped and are still alive are living a nightmare, they're either emotionally scarred for life or they are literally scarred! Not to mention scared...
Of course, in my own personal opinion, Italy has about 60 million inhabitants so not all couples end up beating each other, but according to some statistics, about 30% of Italian women are (or were) in an unfit relationship.
Yesterday was also the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Italy "celebrated" it as well. I think it's a great thing that this country is trying to raise awareness of what can happen to some women if they fall for the wrong guy.
