What is your favorite part of visiting Italy during the off-season? While Italy is beautiful in every season, I feel like visiting in the winter months actually as a lot of positive points to it. I know a lot of people view traveling in off-seasons as dull and not as invigorating, but I think there are a lot of plus sides, and I don't just mean the discounted price!

My favorite part of Italy in the winter, would probably have to be the diversity of the weather. I love that in the same day, you can go on the mountain tops to ski, then come down, and sunbath on the surface! It's such a distinct variable of the climate compared to the states. We definitely have mountains in my state that differ a great deal in temperature, but not so much that you could go from a snow suit to a bathing suit!

I also like that it isn't as crowded in the winter, and I think the Christmas markets are a great upside as well. What are your favorite parts about visiting Italy in the off-season?

First of all, the best part of visiting off season are the deals. Everything is a lot cheaper to book, so that is an advantage in itself. I think Italy is a lot like California, where you can be the ocean enjoying the sun and then drive one hour to a mountain top to enjoy the snow in the winter time. I also enjoy seeing the culture at Christmas time. It is always nice to visit anywhere during a festive time. The other thing about winter is that opera, symphony, and theater seasons are in full swing. So, it is always nice to be able to catch something then.

I don't think visiting Italy during the off season is dull, all landmarks, museums, attractions are open all year long :)
prices are lower, I'll give you that! It's mostly the hotels and other accommodation services that are cheaper, but if you have the patience to look around, you could find other great deals as well, such as souvenirs at normal prices, because there aren't any tourists around willing to spend a lot :P

Regarding the weather, it kind of depends on where you go. If you visit Southern Italy, chances are you will be sunbathing and swimming on Christmas day. If you visit the North, you probably won't swim in the sea :P but Italy's climate is indeed warmer than in other European countries.
