Italian Soups?

Now that the colder weather is really starting to ramp up here in the Northern hemisphere, I'm loving making soups for dinner...comforting and warm. The only Italian soup I have in my repertoire is Minestrone, which is probably the quintessential Italian soup. But I'm wondering what else is out there!

Does anyone have any Italian soup recipes they'd like to share? I don't have any food intolerances or specific dislikes so I don't mind what ingredients they have - just need some inspiration!

And many savoy cabbage soups with rice ( best are Roma and Originario ) or potato, or beans, or banger.

Great suggestions Hermann! I think my favorite one from reading the ingredients on the list would be the Tuscan Black Cabbage soup. It sounds delicious and full of vegetables too! I think I will try to make a batch of it sometime this week!
 
I'm also a lover of soups, especially when the weather starts to get cold around this time of year, soup seems to be an autumnal food for me, if that makes sense?

As for Italian soups, I've also only ever tried minestrone as well and I must admit I wasn't even aware that soups are that popular in Italian cuisine so that's definitely something I will be looking in to.
 
Another category is the offal soups with tripes or chicken livers.

I don't know that I am brave enough to try soup with tripe or chicken liver!

Oh yes, I totally agree with them being an autumnal food! Now that the weather here is getting a lot more crisp I have soups on the brain! Perfect warming food!

Soup is definitely winter food and there's nothing better than being sat in front of the fire with a bowl to warm you up, well the only trouble I find is that I need a bucket full and about 3 baguettes to dip in it to fill ME up!

It really does depend on the soup for me! If it's a broth based soup then I'm absolutely needing loads to fill me up. But when I make thicker soups then I find I have a bowl full and I'm stuffed!

I love soup during the winter. It is so easy and filling, plus it keeps you warm. I can add Bolito di Carne to the list of Italian soups. It is a meat based dish and there are many variations to it based on what part of Italy you go to. However, it makes for a hearty soup.

It seems to be hard were soup is concerned as a lot of people like it, it's just never usually that filling and even if it fills you up at the time, it isn't long after till your hungry again!
 
Bollito di Carne can also make a boiled beef soup I understand, where the beef is boiled with seasoning and stock. Sort of like a broth.

I've never tried it myself but I have heard of it before and I think there's a few recipes knocking about for it.
 
I've only ever had minestrone, and Italian Wedding Soup, though wedding soup is not strictly Italian, haha.

I would imagine that minestrone soup is the first one that comes to people's minds when talking about Italian soups, as its certainly the one that most sold and available around the world.

I'm sure that Italy, as do most countries have their own soups and dishes that are unique to that region but in this case minestrone is popular globally and not just in its country of origin.
 
My father makes minestrone like an angel.

I am vegetarian so it is the perfect vegetable soup for the winter time, you make a big bach and you can eat it for days! Helathy, cheap and tasty.
 
Italian Wedding soup is also pretty good! However, my personal favorite is Minestrone. I like something with a lot of vegetables and minestrone does just that.
My aunt also makes a lot of Chicken noodle soup but replaces the noodles with gnocchi.
