Italy
What do you think about Italian coffee? I remember the first time I had coffee in Italy, I nearly had a heart attack :P It's so strong! Now I got used to it though and I love it!
What are your thoughts on Italian coffee?

I think it's OK, although not everyone makes it that great. There are only a few bars that make the coffee worth paying for, honestly. I know I'm picky, but after a few years of living here I think I have the right to choose the good coffee over the bad ones :D

I am unable to function first thing in the morning without a coffee hit. It's strange because I never really used to drink that much coffee before moving here.

I rarely drink coffee at a bars, it's more at home or friends house kind of thing unless I'm out all day and then I will stop for a hit.

I drink a lot of it sometimes, 3-4 cups of coffee, because I have to work a lot. Other times, when I'm not really working all that much or am at home (usually on weekends), I have one coffee and it's already too much.

I was introduced to both cappuccino and espresso on my first visit to Italy. I found them both to be quite strong, and the latter quite bitter. I remember going home with a sugar in coffee habit that I had to wean my self off. These days I appreciate Italian coffee more.

Me too :)
I also had a coffee on my first day in Italy. It was 6 in the morning, I really needed it. I didn't know it was extra strong though! But now I'm used to it and I don't think I can ever go back :P

I've never even been to Italy although I love all things Italian. It's on my bucket list! I do buy Italian coffee here in England though and I love it, probably because I really like strong coffee that also has a pleasant taste.

Did you know there are many types of coffee in Italy?

Besides the cafe corto, cafe lungo or macchiato, there are some 'new' ways of having a coffee and enjoy a small break:

Have you ever had an affogato?
It's a scoop of ice cream over which you pour your coffee. It's so good! The ice cream melts and the dessert is ready for you to enjoy! I should have that more often :P

Cafe Latte is also something I enjoy, usually in the afternoon when I need a break. It's 1 part coffee, 3 parts steamed milk and milk foam on top. It's almost like a cappuccino but when I make it it's delicious!

Then there's the cafe marocchino, which is exactly like the cafe latte, but you spread coca on top.

I started to love coffee lately and wanted to explore and have a taste of something other than the regular cafe macchiato I usually have.

I drink 2-3 coffee on every working day and 1 in the weekend.
I must say that when I'm outside Italy I really don't like the "American coffee", a coffee must but short and strong ;)

Strangely enough when I lived in London I drank caffé Latte at all times of the day.
Since moving to Italy, I realized that Italians only drink caffé Latte in the morning.

I normally have Cappuccino in the morning and espresso at other times. Occasionally, I'll have a caffé Corretto in the afternoon at weekends. I really like Coffee with a dash of Sambuca but only when I'm not working.

I love the smell of coffee but just can't get accustomed to the taste - I really wish I liked it as there are so many types to try (as this thread evidences!), but the strongest taste I can tolerate is a fairly weak caffe latte.
