We all know Milano cookies, and while Pepperidge Farms is certainly not based in Italy, they are based on an Italian recipe for cookies dipped in chocolate. I just LOVE these cookies! I've even seen variations where people make them heart-shaped for Valentines day which is coming up...I may just try that!

I tend to like the ones dipped in dark chocolate and doubled up since I have a real sweet tooth, but all of the variations are so good! I think the buttery shortbread cookie gives such a balance to the hardened dark chocolate that it creates an awesome taste that's in sync.

What about you? Do you like chocolate dipped shortbread cookies? What variation do you like? Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, maybe even mint?

Oh my God, I LOVE Milano cookies! I used to eat them when I was younger, and now that I'm older, I like dipping them into my coffee or hot chocolate. I really love them milk chocolate version, though the mint is also fantastic tasting! I never knew that the Milano cookie was based on an Italian recipe! (Though, really with a name like "Milano" I should have guessed. )

I love a quality buttery shortbread cookie dipped in milk chocolate. It is more often dipped in dark chocolate to balance the butter sweetness, but I prefer milk chocolate. Italians make all sorts of variations in cookies like Italian Canistrelli Cookies made with chestnut flour. I think this recipe for an Italian butter cookie sandwiched with jam is absolutely divine:

It only requires 15 minutes to prep.

Wow Regina, those cookies look wonderful! I like how they added the sprinkles, that would give it even more sweetness and more of a crunch to them. That is awesome that they only take 15 minutes to prepare, I definitely think I am going to save the recipe to make next week. I like the milk chocolate ones too, but the dark ones are my favorite. I do have to say though, the ones that have double the chocolate like the ones in the photo you've shown taste great when they're milk chocolate as well!

I absolutely love short bread cookies and having them sipped in chocolate is a plus. I know the Pepperidge Farm cookies aren't made in Italy but the inspiration is still from an Italian influence. I really love the milk chocolate dipped shortbread cookies.
