I also like Mario Batali, especially when he competes in the Kitchen Stadium of Iron Chef America. He seems like a cool and collected chef, even when under pressure. He also makes fantastic dishes.
As for a woman, my favorite is Giada de Laurentiis. Not only does she makes sumptuous meals, she also gives a nice description of her dishes and ingredients. She is also very beautiful.

I don't actually know many Italian celebrity chefs. I do know of Christina Tosi though? She's not from Italy but she has Italian heritage.
Here in the UK Gino D'Acampo and Aldo Zilli are the most well known Italian Chef's. Although D'Acampo spends a lot of time appearing on television and has gained considerable celebrity status he still remains true to simple Italian cuisine which i like.

For me it would have to be Antonio Carluccio and Gennaro Contaldo. They have 2 series called 'The two greedy italians' which has been on british television over the past few years. A great insight and good laugh along the way as they visit different regions of italy and sample dishes. Some of the episodes are on youtube i believe!

I have one of her cook books and she breaks down every recipe so it is easy to make. Not only is she really good at simplifying recipes but she also makes a lot of healthy dishes as well. Her books are very colorful and easy to follow and she makes all the classic dishes.

Antonio Carluccio is one of the best. I have watched his shows and he is very passionate and even I can follow his recipes. Most have books, restaurants, and their own brands.
Gino D'Acampo is more known as a television host now, as he is younger and attractive to the audience. Giorgio Locatelli is still well known, and his restaurants are excellent. I once ate in one and it's worth it.
