I have to admit that the best pizza I ever had was at Pizza Hut. Which is not Italian... :P
However, most Italians I know swear that the best pizza is the one made in Italy, since it's the birthplace of the recipe.

What do you think? It the best pizza really here in Italy or are the Italians just very proud of it?

The best pizza that I have ever had in Italy was in Verona. The strange thing about eating a pizza outside of Italy is the extra variations or toppings that you cannot find here.

For example, Pizza Hut do a stuff crust pizza which is really nice and have not seen this type of base in Italy. Also, I find it very hard to find an Italian pizzeria that do a Hawaiian style pizza. Ham and Pineapple on a pizza? It's strange because Italians do eat ham and melon together but just not on a pizza.

Verona, you say... If I'm ever in the area I'll check the pizza out :)
I actually have had the best pizza ever in Hungary. It was full of ingredients and aromas and it was delicious!

Yes one of the best slices of pizza I had was in Naples. I forgot the name of the place since it was so long ago. However, it was a little place on the corner of a street. I've heard Naples is known for their pizza.

You'll probably laugh at me, but apart from my Nonna's pizza, some of the best I've had was in Tokyo. Yeah, in Japan...crazy, right? I would have never thought I'd find good Italian food there, but there's a restaurant called La Bisboccia in Tokyo which has even been certified by the Italian embassy there as being authentic Italian food. If you're ever in Tokyo look it up - their food is AMAZING.
