I remember last Christmas (well, it was before Christmas) when I went to a dinner party organized for almost 50 people.

We were served course after course, starting with pancetta, horse meat and other appetizers, then soup (well, tortellini in met broth), then the main course and dessert. The water and wine were always present on the table, you could drink as much as you liked. Some people even asked for seconds (I guess they were hungry) but it was OK, since the price was fixed.

Have you ever been to such a dinner party? Do you enjoy them or do you prefer to order the meals exactly as you like it?

I have been to exactly 2 of those. The main impression is that there's way too much food served for one meal!
The first dinner party I went to was something new for me. I had no idea that the waiters will serve 4-5 meal courses so I ate as I usually do. Well, when I saw that the food keeps coming I couldn't believe it! It's too much food for one person to eat. Then again, it's the friends you're with that count, not if you eat everything on your plate or not.
