Gnocchi

in my house gnocchi is a staple. We love it. Its so yum, but we are getting tired of the typical cream and butter sauce i make. My husband prefers cream based sauces to tomato. ones. Any ideas on how to shake it up a little?
 
I make a gnocchi and pasta bake together and mix a sauce, add vegetables and then layer the top with caramelized onions and breadcrumbs. I like it as a change and also a good spoon or two of pesto in. Make sure you don't over do the gnocchi though depending if it fresh or not.
 
Butter and sage: sautè in butter a garlic clove and a couple sage leaves. When the garlic is browned remove it and the leaves. Season gnocchi with the butter, parmesan and black pepper.

Salsa di noci : blend walnuts, milk or cream, half clove of garlic, a few olive oil and parmesan in the food processor.

Pesto : season gnocchi with pesto, you can add steamed green beans cut in little bits.
 
Gnocchi is my all-time favorite pasta. There is nothing better than going to a local Italian restaurant and having a bowl of homemade gnocchi. I have to say it does fill me up pretty quickly. I find it heavier than many other pastas. Does anyone made it homemade? My aunts used to make pasta homemade but I’m not sure that they ever made this kind. I would love to be able to make it one day as buying it in the store can get pricy.
