How many of you enjoy eating gnocchi? That lovely potato dumpling that fills you up quickly. What is your favorite gnocchi recipe?

My favorite is when it is made with pumpkin puree and then baked in the oven with a tomato sauce and melted mozzarella. I have had it with plain tomato sauce and white sauce.

I've only had gnocchi once, but I wasn't very impressed. I can't remember what they were cooked with though...mushrooms and a wine sauce, I think. I'd be willing to try them again, as I don't see any reason why I wouldn't like them - I like potato, I like dumplings, and I like pasta, and gnocchi seems be an amalgamation of the three (in my non-Italian mind, anyway!).

I love gnocchi! I'm not a very good cook, so I've never made any myself, I just order it in Italian restaurants. I think gnocchi with some dried tomatoes is the most wonderful thing. And mozzarella is always good!

I eat gnocchi at least once a week during the cooler months as they serve it in my works canteen.

It is really very filling and a bit too 'pesante' for me during the summer months.

Great idea for a post Kim. Gnocchi con ragu or con gorgonzola. Gnocchi con pesto too.
I'll tell you whats the best though......gnocchi with crabmeat! Now thats a rich dish!

I adore gnocchi, but often I'll order it and the texture is very gummy,so I really appreciate it when I go to a nice restaurant and the texture is perfect in a soft, melt-in-your-mouth kind of way!
I'm going to try making it myself with sweet potato in the next few days... hopefully it will turn out edible!

I'm ashamed to say I've never tried them.

I wasn't a big fan of pasta anyway, until I came to Italy. Even so, it took me about 2 years to get used to liking pasta :D
I think I didn't like it because in Europe, no one makes us of so much fantasy in the kitchen to com up with good pasta recipes, as Italian do :) Plus, I was hungry after i ate pasta anyway.... But now... yumm!!

Anyway, I first needed time to get used to pasta and then I discovered tortellini. And I have yet to discover gnocchi. But, now that I see everyone thinks they're great, I think it's time to try them :D

I have never tried gnocchi before; but I have tried ravioli and tortellini. Those are really great! I also love spaghetti with homemade tomato sauce. It's my mission in life to eat and learn to make as many pasta dishes as possible!

Gnocchi are great, probably the I have had was here in Canada. I had Gnocchi with maple bacon, Parmesan cheese and truffle oil. It was really rich but it tasted so good.

You have to try them with tomato sauce. Since potatoes are starchy, it would taste better with a tomato base than cream. I've had them with olive oil and garlic and they were okay but needed cheese to bring out any flavor. I've made them with a mixture of squash and potato, instead of just potato and it gives it an interesting taste.

I love gnocchi! I was introduced to it a few years ago, and I made a point of eating it while I was in Italy. I have had gnocchi with a tomato based sauce, and I have had it with a homemade pesto sauce. I find that gnocchi is really filling and leaves me feeling satisfied.

I love gnocchi and when I eat a few pieces of it, I easily get full. I think it's somewhat a good way to diet as well as you would not end up taking in more food later on. I only like the plain potato one. That alone is flavorful already. I do not make it but I prefer buying it at my favorite Italian restaurant.

Gnocchi is really inexpensive in Italy and quick to make a meal. I like it with pesto, or to bake it with a cheese and tomato sauce and some spinach. Another idea is to add them as dumplings into soup. Sometimes you get pasta in soups like Minestrone, add some gnocchi instead to make it more of a meal and filling. I prefer thicker chowders which it still works well with instead of potatoes.

I love gnocchi. I have had it with a nice tomato sauce and mozzarella and it was exquisite. It does fill you up quickly so enjoy and take your time.

I love gnocchi but I have to say it fills me up more than any other pasta. My aunts make it home made and there is such a difference between homemade and the store bought kind. I like it because they fill it with all types of meats, cheeses and potatoes. They also throw spinach in there every once in a while which tastes delicious. I haven’t tried making it yet.

Gnocchi is quite possibly my favorite pasta. It's one that my Nonna used to make regularly, so I guess it just has good memories of my childhood attached to it too -- very much that comfort food type feeling!

I can't make it as well as my Nonna could, though - so I usually stick to having it when I am at a restaurant or buying the pre-made ones and just adding whatever type of sauce I am feeling like!
