Do you grown your own peppers, tomatoes, and vegetables in your garden to make your meals? Or do you use bottled sauces to top your pasta?

I use to buy sauces for my pasta, but then I started making my own. I've never grown my own ingredients, I don't have much of green-thumb. I really want to try it, though knowing me it would probably end up tasting worse.

Unfortunately, I do not have a my own garden as I live in an apartment but I do grow Rosemary, basil, mint, and chill's on my balcony. I try to make my own sauces (99% of the time) but I purchase the vegetables from the supermarket or market.
There is a huge difference in taste using fresh vegetables and most pasta sauces are very easy to make.

This summer we decided to have a small garden. We grew just cucumbers and tomatoes, but now I remember how gratifying growing your own veggies is.

I do a combination of canned and fresh vegetables to make my sauce. I have a wonderful recipe that my Mother-In-Law gave me many years ago, I use this as my base and add my own touches to it.

My aunt who was born in Italy has a huge garden. She grows her own peppers, eggplant, cucumbers and a ton of tomatoes. I definitely think her produce is fresher and tastes better than the produce I buy in the store. She also has an herb garden on her window sill.

Every summer she will use the tomatoes and herbs to make her sauce for the year. She will spend all day cooking sauce, divvy it into jars and freeze it for the winter months.

In summer I have a fair bit of success growing my own tomatoes and basil. I also have oregano growing which so far has done pretty well year round! My basil plants don't do well though outside summer - they just need the warmer climate, I guess! I love making my own pesto and having tomatoes to make Caprese salad - love the basil/fresh mozzarella/tomato combination!
