This is simple. What's your favorite Spaghetti sauce ?

I will keep it simple. I love carbonara. It's not really good for my weight and even worse for my healt but it's like heaven ! I love arabiatta too.

I would have to say that carbonara is my favourite too. It's a bit of a bomb, but the mix of pancetta, egg and lots of parmasan cheese makes it very tasty.

Other sauces that go well with spaghetti that I enjoy are:

  • Garlic, olive oil and chilli - Aglio, Olio e Peperoncino
  • Puttanesca
  • Tuna
  • Amatriciana
There are many more, but these are some that I enjoy the most.

Carbonara with lots of parmesan cheese is my favorite by far! Then again, I usually order something different every time when I'm at an Italian restaurant to get pleasantly surprised. :D

I can't possibly choose only one. I do love carbonara though, as well as arrabbiata (although it's never quite hot enough for my taste, I find!) and also ragu bolognaise.

From what I know, the "pasta alla carbonara" is a typical meal from the Lazio region. The "pasta arrabbiata" originates from Rome.

The very famous Fettucine Alfredo come from Lazio as well :D

What else.... Lasagna originates from Bologna, ravioli come from Venice, I think... anyway, someone from Prato invented them.

I'm not a genius or a nerd :D I just found this interesting link with Italian dishes :D

Definitely carbonara. It was the first pasta sauce I learned by myself as a student and am still a big fan of it. It certainly isn't the best thing for my waistline.

And it's probably sacrilege to say it, and I'm grouping a lot of very different sauces together, but I'm actually less of a fan in general of tomato-based sauces.

There are several sauces I like, but pesto mixed with some mayonnaise to make it creamy is one of my favorites.

Another way to eat my spaghetti or linguine is 'aglio olio' with butter, olive oil and some garlic. Really simple and a dash of truffle oil makes it special with some black pepper or a few chilli flakes.

I haven't eaten enough of the gang to be picking a favorite. I like fettuccine and the seafood spaghetti they serve at the Spaghetti House. I have tasted the vegetarian spaghetti, too, which can be re-created at home for a simple meal. I think what makes them so special is how they are served and in what sort of condition I had them. :p

The sauce is what makes the spaghetti and meatballs special, and for a homemade spaghetti, the sauce is pretty generic.

I love bolognaise sauce. Its a greater take on spaghetti and I introduced it to my family and they loved it. A nice mix of sauce with meat yummy!!!

I'm also with you on carbonara. Simple and the ingredients are easy to come by. Delicious, and people are impressed that you can make a sauce from scratch. I am also a fan of pesto, although lately I've been enjoying it on pizza a lot more than pasta, as school has reduced the time I can spend eating :)

Out of the many sauces mentioned, I think I have tasted the Aglio Olio, Tuna, and the regular Spaghetti sauce. There is also the white, creamy sauce they serve with sea food, and sometimes with seafood and mushroom slices. Then there is the spaghetti and meatballs, which also tastes really good.

I am definitely an Alfredo girl all the way. I mean I like traditional tomato based sauces - but you can just do so much with Alfredo.. I actually enjoy it best with chicken and broccoli.

I love Carbonara! Especially when it has this thick white cream sauce that slides smoothly in your mouth together with mushroom and bits of meat. It's my favorite spaghetti of all time. It's simple yet has that classic look already. Not too many embellishments but taste just as grand as those with too much stuff going on.

I think it has to be carbonara for me, particularly with mushrooms added. I'm less of a fan of tomato-based sauces for some reason. Plus, I'm better at making carbonara than the likes of bolognaise.

I am not exactly a traditionalist when it comes to spaghetti sauces. I like to experiment. Since I am a vegetarian, meat is obviously not included in my sauces. I usually like to make a rich sauce with sun-ripened tomatoes, garlic, onions and plenty of basil or oregano. But I also like to include other herbs, such as mint, coriander or parsley. One of the most important for me is a high quality, organic olive oil, which I like to infuse with chili. :-)

I love a good garlic and cheese cream sauce. I grew up eating thick red sauce with sausage and beef cooked in it so whenever my mother would make a white sauce it was always something special. Combined with Capellini you don't even need much sauce and its just amazing.

This is weird, but I generally use a basil or mushroom marinara on my pasta. I hate watery pasta sauce, so I looove thick and sometimes slightly chunk marinara sauce. I generally get mine from Whole Foods, but I'll sometimes add in my owns spices and herbs to it.
