Does anyone still remember "Don Camillo and Peppone", this gem of a TV series that was popular back in the eighties? I grew up with that show, forever absorbed in the battles between Don Camillo, the priest, and Peppone the Communist mayor. The stories are based on the real life events of a historical Catholic priest, Don Camillo Valota, who was a partisan, and detained in the concentration camps of Dachau and Mauthausen during WW2.
