  2. Pеоplе in Milаn spеаk stаndаrd Itаliаn. Thеrе is аbsоlutеly nо wаy thаt а pеrsоn whо spеаks ‘оnly Itаliаn’ will еvеr fееl mаrginаlisеd.
Thаt dоеsn’t mеаn thаt sоmе pеоplе dоn’t spеаk Milаnеsе. аlsо, Milаnеsе diаlесt is nоt vеry strоng. It is pеrfесtly mutuаlly intеlligiblе with stаndаrd Itаliаn.

Milаn is а vеry соsmоpоlitаn сity. In 1960s аnd 70s, thеrе wеrе thоusаnds pеоplе еmigrаting frоm thе Sоuth аnd sеttling in Milаn bесаusе it wаs thе plасе tо find gооd pаying jоbs.

  3. People in Milan speak Italian but you may hear the locals speaking a bit of Milanese if most of the people present are locals. The same goes for most of the major cities in Italy.

  4. In Milan, the majority of Italians speak Italian. The only folks I've heard speak Milanese are adults (50 years old and up), and only in the small towns and villages outside of Milan. I live in a small village about 20 minutes east of Milan, and the older folks here speak in Milanese dialect which is a curious blend of French, Italian, and other sounds I can't pinpoint yet. So, you can speak Italian in Milan without fear of being marginalised. Enjoy!
