Here in the UK we have a chain of restaurants called Carluccio's where they serve Italian coffee and real Italian food, or so they say. Their coffee tastes delicious, but, how do I know that it's genuine?
I would say that you can just ask, but I doubt the answer will be any different from "yes, it's genuine Italian coffee"
I'm going to tell you something and I hope it won't be disappointing
Every time I go home to visit my family (Eastern Europe) I ask them for what they want me to bring them. Everyone says "nothing, nothing" except for my sister, who wants genuine Italian coffee, made HERE, in Italy.
I usually buy some Lavazza (different type every time I go home) because the Lavazza they have at home is actually... not that good as the one bought in Italy.
This is the disappointing part: you can buy the same brand of coffee in Italy as well as in other countries but the risk is that it's not the same coffee because it's either not imported or... I don't know the real reason.
Real Italian coffee has a great aroma, once you open the package and also after you make it.
I have tried Lavazza, bought here in England, and it's not as good as the supermarket's "Italian blend" coffee, but the coffee I tasted in Carluccio's was outstanding. They say that it is Milanese espresso, ground and roasted in Italy from Arabica beans. I have tasted nothing else as good in this country.
Just ask someone that works there, they should be able to tell you. If they promote it as being real it should be or else it's false advertisement. If you enjoy it, keep enjoying it
