For those that haven't heard, terrible storms have been hitting northern Italy, and southern France and Switzerland these past few weeks. There has been lots of flooding, with two of the major lakes in Ticino overflowing their banks. Numerous people have died--the last number I heard was 11--as a result of landslides in these countries from the torrential rain. Cars have been swept away, roads destroyed, and there have been hundreds of euros worth of damage. Agriculture has also been affected, as many fields have essentially been swept away.
