Ancona

The province of Ancona is the capital of the Marche region, expanding from the coast of the Adriatic Sea to the Apennines, with the relief becoming gradually higher moving towards the mountains. There are 49 comuni forming the province, some of them famous for being crowded during the summer season, as many tourist resorts are found here in the province. The city of Ancona, capital of the province, is very interestingly split into two parts: the modern part on the sea coast and the historic center, in the heart of the city. Main monuments include: the Cathedral of San Ciriaco, the National Archaeological Museum of The Marches and Trajan's Arch.
